So I thought it had been a long while since I did pencil sketches. For the past months, I have been intentional about my digital arts and how to improve in them. I neglected any kind of pencil work or sketch. All the simple lime art pencil sketches I used to make, I stopped for months now and have only been focusing on my digital works and more than anything, I love digital arts and paintings like no man's business.
I fell in love with them the very first moment I knew about digital paintings and since then I have been doing everything within my power to get better at them by learning from others and professionals.
Yesterday, when I had nothing to do and my device was down, I decided to do a quick pencil sketch, to see if I have even forgotten how to use my pencil on paper lol. Well, I guess I didn't all the same, only that I missed it a bit.
I did a quick sketch of one of the characters from my childhood cartoon series; Avatar, the air bender. I loved this show as a child and I still do even uphill now. I find it fun, adventurous, and enjoyable. It always feels like I watching a new cartoon every time I do
Recently, I think a month ago, my kid bro started this series again after so many years of not seeing the cartoon. It was always fun to stop by and see the cartoon with him.
So I made this quick pencil sketch using HB pencil in my drawing book. I only took a few shots of the process, I mean there was no shading done on it so I didn't have a lot of work process to snap or capture.
Below are the few steps I captured.
Steps Or Work Process
Step One
Here I started with the head, and then the dress and part of the body.
Step Two
And then I went ahead to finish up the body with his hands and then the staff he uses to do his airbending
Step Three
If you notice in this step, I had to adjust one side of his ear since both were not aligned and weren't the same size in the previous step.
I also added more strokes to his dress and added the other side of his collar.
Step Four
Finally, I added his eyes, nose, lips, and then the Airbender mark on his forehead.
The character looks a little different and it's because of the components of his face lol, either his eye or nose or lips didn't match what is in the actual show that's why lol. But either way, an Avatar remains an avatar 😂
And that was it for the pencil sketch. I am still hoping to make a digital piece out of this so that I can add colors and give more life to this sketch, after all that is what digital art or painting does. It gives life to our arts.
This way I will be able to color his dress appropriately.
Though I didn't shade this pencil sketch, I wasn't even planning to, but I hope it doesn't really matter if I did shade it or not😏
Wait until I make a digital piece out of this, I bet you will like it after I sprinkle life into it.
