Helichrysum - as fragrant, "golden" and useful as an herb.
And this year it bloomed to its full potential, covering one of our garden beds with a warm yellow color.
Also called yellow smil or sand flower, it has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant and antifungal effects.
It has a healing and anti-aging effect on the skin.
It is interesting for the herb that it relieves stress and restores good mood.
But the Helichrysum flower's greatest power is to "trigger the emotions" and awaken each of the five senses.

The time between flowering and reblooming is very fast - 2 to 4 days, so care must be taken not to miss the moment to collect the herb. This should be done at the beginning of flowering, before the flower baskets have fully opened and when they are at their deepest yellow color.
While I was photographing the small yellow flowers, I noticed that a Mantis had settled among them.
I prepare oil from the collected flowers of the Helichrysum.
The benefits of Helichrysum oil are by no means few:
- high antibacterial activity;
- beneficial for the skin - it acts against free radicals, is used in the treatment of wounds and burns;
- effective for muscle inflammation and pain;
- repellent effective against mosquitoes;
- and much more.
After collecting the flowers, I chop them finely and place them in an empty jar.
Add olive oil, covering the colors completely.
I leave the jar in a dry place (out of direct sunlight) for about 30 days.
Then I strain through cheesecloth and pour into appropriate containers.
So I have precious oil, homemade Helichrysum oil for the next 12 months.
