Wholesome Homemade Dry Cat Food: A Nourishing Option for Your Feline Companion

in #hive-1876358 months ago

My cat doesn't look good every time she eats shop-bought food, and she doesn't seem to be satisfied, as she keeps asking for food all day. So I decided to put her on a fresh meat and fish diet. Just in a week, I see the difference: her coat is fluffy and shiny, she is more alert, and she's bulking up with muscles. But she also needs some dried food to chomp on, especially when we have no fresh meat available.

To solve that issue, I decided to create a dry cat food.

I first weighed all the ingredients.

I mixed 80% meat, 10% mix wild rice, 5% greens, and 5% fats. I did not add vitamins as they will just degrade during the drying process. It is best given separately.

I mixed in the meadow grass that she loves eating when she goes outdoors.

I blitzed them together in the blender.

As I have no pellets maker, I used a plastic bag. I cut the corner and piped the blended ingredients onto the tray.

put it in the dehydrator or in the oven at 70 degrees Celsius for an hour or until dried.

Once dried, keep it in a sealed bag.

My cat, Coco, seems to love this!

She seems satisfied.

Have a wonderful Caturday, everyone!

This is cool, a homemade and much healthier cat food. But I bet it is more expensive too. But for our pet, we can do everything for them right?

Thank you, yes absolutely and it actually worked out cheaper than the regular cat food, and while it may take some extra time to prepare, I find the process rewarding and enjoyable. Plus, knowing that you're providing your furry friend with high-quality, nutritious meals makes the effort well worth it. :)

Excellent idea to make healthier food for our furry babies, it is a different option for their good nutrition, thanks for sharing 😊

I am so impressed by this cat food! I had never thought of making dry cat food. I try to give my kitties chicken whenever possible but it would be great to have a homemade dry option. It is really creative that you added meadow grass as well. Love this!

One question, did you cook the meat or was it raw before you blended it up and dried it?

Thank you, yest it really comes handy. I prefer to precook the meat so I can dry it on low heat with the greens, preserving its benefits. If using raw meat, it needs to be dried properly at a higher temperature. Actually, this is a leftover from our roast dinner. If planning to do that, I don't add lots of salt so I can use the extra meat for the kitty. I hope that helps. :)
