When many parents arouund the world are spending lot money to buy expensive gifts, toys, gadgets for their kids and to keep them happy. There are certain section of the society who does not need or expect such expenditure from their parents. They are very happy with what they have. And if they don't have, they make use of the available resources to stay happy. Looking at this self made "clay car", reminded me of the ancient terracota arts.
Such things are hard to find in cities but in villages these are very common sights, where kids does not need any special treatment. They are grown up like this that they never have such fancy demands.
Yesterday, I met Manik, who was very shy but very focused in making one of his dream car.
Infact calling it a car is wrong, as he is not interested in Cars. Their lifestyle is not much influenced with Television or Computers or Mobile. They live a very simple life. On asking multiple times what he is upto with the clay, he relied bullock cart. This is what he has seen all these time. Bullock cart is very common in our villages, and his thought is limited to it only. Who needs a Car?
This is also not one of those "clay" that are available in markets. I know many of us bought "clay" for our kids. It used to very sticky, and kids can roll over th3 fingers to make shape and sizes. But here Manik are use of natural clay. These are found at the farming field area, and is not sticky or soft. It is very hard and require much efforts in rolling, pressing, or giving it a shape.
this is what makes them much stronger hand than a rich kids
These kids have no grudges with life, they appears to be very happy. Neither they demands much. They are not adamant like other city kids. These were part of the evening time. It is interesting to see kids in villages still loves to comes out in open and play games and do many other things.
Manik in the meantime is busy in building his Cart. He makes flattened roll of the clay to make it wheel, square block for the base and other things. He made use of wooden straws to connect them one to the another.
My 8 years old nephew who accompanied me in my walk was too impressed with their effort. He took some clay from them to make his own. These kids were more focused than I expected. Till the time I sat with them, they were not distracted, and keep doing his own work. This is also an important lesson for life. As people generally distract them in front of new faces.
Here are some more pictures from Manik efforts in making his own cart.
Living happily with minimum needs. This is what we have to learn from these kids. When we are moving ahead rapidly with day to day technological growth. These kids have nothing to do. They do not have TV at their home. Their family relies on farming and enjoy a happy life with not much tension of high demands. Good to find still such people exists.
