Having clothes that we usually cant wear because of some damage or getting old, instead of throwing them, lets make them into something for our pets.
Today, Im sharing with you how I turn my partners old jersey for my pet "Keppie"s clothes, shes white and neat and mischievous, Im having a hard time with the photo shoot, She has his brother "Beauxrat" that was my partners so Im into making this for Keppie.. hahaha**
The process will take for about 2 to 4 hours, depending if you have pre existing patterns to lay in your fabric, for the materials we have here old Jersey, Red Thread, some pins, trimmer and shear and my Sewing Machine. I only know basics in sewing, so much thats I dont know some sewing jargons or might we have different terms.
With our Jersey in hand, we need to take some things on it that might be useful for our pet clothes like these patches.
We are also taking the Lining of the shoulder, and the hem of the neckline
Since I already have my patterns, I simply lay and draft them on the the area that is in good shape. Then cut it with a centimeter of allowance.
(Yeah, there wondering and wandering around my working space)
Once all the things we need are set, we could now start the exciting part.. SEWING'EM <3
Im setting the stitch to triple stretch, this is quite good for semi-stretchable fabric if you dont want a ZigZag pattern for your work.
We are trying to achieve the V-neck of the jersey, Its a first for me to do this, sewing the center lining on top of the right-side, Then cut the ends like in the picture on the right shows, we will fold these later once we sew all the neck area.
For us to start of our neck area, we need to sew the shoulders first... once done we could now work on our neckline.
Since we just took off the hem, we just need to pin them properly, pinning will held us with ease in sewing crucial areas like these. After pinning is set we may now sew them, dont mind the pins to get hit with the sewing needles as it runs, it will just glide with wonder.
After the neckline has been sewed, we could now proceed to the sides and the arm hole, we'll just add lining on it. Pinning the Lining on the right-side, sew and fold and secure with another sewing.
On the upper left is the outcome of our lining, then trim the excess and unwanted fabric or threads for it to look neat, and we could now add our patch in front.
Adding Hem on the bottom and sewing the last patch for the back.
And whoala! we now have a jersey for out beloved pets.. ^_^
Sneakpeak of the photo-shoot (this is actually the actual)
Beauxrat (the black one) is messing with the shot.
I cant make a good shot, but I just enjoy the moment with them getting playful
Beauxrat seems to envy wearing the jersey so I tried it on him, he kinda like it and enjoy some shots
...Look!
