Newbie To Hive? Here's How To Schedule a Post Using Peakd.com

in #hive-1985242 years ago

It's funny being an old hand on HIVE. You know how to do pretty much everything, or who to ask to find out. In the early days of being here, every time I find something out, I used to post about it, and people were grateful to see these kind of information posts come up in their feed. It's been ever such a long time since I've done one, but a comment by @nickydee about post scheduling made me think it might be a good one to write about!

First of all, I have to say that Peakd.com is the best front end for the blogging side of HIVE. I've been using it for so long now that I can't imagine using any other front end, though I do occasionaly use Leofinance.io and love what they've done there too. I love the customer service on Peakd too - pop into the Discord with a question or problem and @jarvie and @asgarth will always calmly and politey help you out, never treating you like an imbecile which is a bonus! Often, when new users come here, they feel a bit scared to ask and feel like an idiot, but I assure you, Hive folk will always jump to help you out, so never worry about asking if you're stuck!

So, post scheduling! This is really useful if you know you're going to be really busy, and won't have time to write a post or do a daily. Personally, I might have a stretch of time where I have lots to write about and the time to do it, like now, when I'm on a 12 hour ferry ride to Tasmania! Some of you might like to post in particular time frames and might not want to miss it. You might have a few posts in your drafts that you want to go out at a particular time - Peakd drafts are also great, and I save all my templates, such as my footer, ready to go.

So, Peakd makes the scheduling super easy! When you write your post, add the title and the tags, you can see three buttons in the lower right corner, the middle one being the green SCHEDULE button. Go ahead and click on that.

Then all you need to do is select the date and time. Peakd.com will naturally go off YOUR time zone, so there's no need to convert to UTC or anything like that.

image.png

You can also view your scheduled posts. Look at the top of the screen in Peaked, next to your avatar and alerts. You'll see the little pencil. Click that, and you'll see the drop down list. Click on 'scheduled posts', and you'll see all your posts ready to go on the time you've set! Cooh huh?

image.png

Now, I've NEVER known it NOT to work - the team at Peakd.com run a tight ship and any errors with post scheduling have always been mine. It pays to double check them - I've scheduled posts for the same hour and day before accidentally, which is really annoying!

Do you use post scheduling? Would you try it?

Oh, and the images in this post are co-created by me on Midjourney. I always like to put mountain pictures on my Peakd posts. Seems very appropriate!

With Love,

River, over 3000 notifications? 😂😂😂

Damn you're popular!

Good post. People need to remember there are great tools to use around. I've been using ecency from my phone to make some points to promote and else, but PeakD is by far the best front-end to to anything.

I just never clear them 😂😂😂 it's like pushing a rock up a hill only for it to roll down again!

Love the Sisyphean reference in the comment. 😂

Oh yes that's what I meant but who knows who knows!

I had to laugh going down a scary 4wd track yesterday. The guy ahead was from French Guana and said "watch out for the sword of Damocles' to warn us. What, we thought? Then we saw a huge stick dangling vertical from the trees. An Australian would have said 'watch out for the big fucking stick'😂

Exactly!

Well, a Venezuelan would have said the Aussie thing too. I mean "da heck"! A metaphor is not good to warn about danger. 😂

How-to posts from grizzled veterans are always good 😂

Grizzled ? Me? How dare you 👺😡😤

haha I knew you would like that

Great timing! It has been a good while since I have done much in the way of posting, but I have done a couple this week and they were on PeakD. You were right...I love using their front end. So far the scheduling has not been needed but I see the value of that feature. Will have to give it a go!

I love what they do!

Very good info. Actually, however, I used peakd for everything except scheduling. As far as I have seen, peakd doesn't allow you to reblog it to your own blog if you schedule (so that it shows up under "Blog" instead of only under "All Posts"). Only Ecency allows that, so I do all my scheduling with them. I've suggested to the peakd team that they add that multiple times but never gotten an answer.

But anyway, this is still good info for newbies.

Oh that's strange, you asked in Discord? @asgarth @jarvie ?

I just add to blog after it's published. It shows up in feeds anyway.

I

I have always read these info posts and found something I now use. I will save this one, but it's all I can do to get a post up each day (and not even that this week) so writing ahead most likely won't happen. But I'm saving it in case...

Oh I am out haha... I'm on holdiay with no reception half the time and I'm too relaxed to keep up any schedule!!! See ya in Feb

Yup, I know what prompted the post. Hope the holiday is really lovely!

Hey you, thanks for thinking of me and putting this post together for us learner bees.

I don't know why we never learn and use stuff prior to a crisis happening when we really need to be prepared and able to use stuff!! 😆

Scheduling has been on the radar but not made good use of. And now you've shared your wisdom and secrets I'm so gonna get my game on.

Currently crawling along because life happened (and it does that so best be prepared right?).

I will rest. Reboot. Rise again. Build up content and use the scheduling more effectively!

I also use PeakD to post. And use Ecency on the phone / app a lot, to chat and catch up with notifications :D

Have to agree with @bertrayo

Plus 3000 notifications? I'd panic for sure. You, lady, are clearly an expert.

Thanks for sharing how to... 🥰

Oh goodness I'm madly behind. Currently in Tasmania with this view... Have lots of content but no inclination to write it!!!

Enjoy to the max, angel. That looks like a superb place to unwind and reboot for the next leg of the journey!
Ove it.

Love it. Just love it. And the hammock! That's all I need right there to live happily ever after. You've found it 💥🖕🏻
