SUNDAY OUTFIT- CHECK☑️

in #hive-1279112 years ago

The motivation I had to make this dress was in a hurry. Beautiful Saturday noon, the sun is brightly shining and I am sweetly sleepy, because I deserve my "beauty sleep".

Then I realized, ohh! Tomorrow is the Lord's day, I needed to prepare an outfit for service because I planned to go early (like I always 🌚).
Went through my clothes but I didn't see any outfit that met my expectations. I don't know how else to say this but I know I wanted something different.

I decided to make that dress that I had in my head, since I had limited time, and I was in such a hurry, it was hard to record the whole process gradually.

I'm a Nigerian tailor, it's kind of like our thing to just have Ankara fabric in the house. Even if you don't really need to sew at the moment, anytime you see a beautiful fabric on the way and you like it, just buy it! It will come in handy one day. Frankly it's my "thing", I'm just hoping every tailor does it too😂.

I went to my reservoir of fabrics, after the battle of selecting, I finally picked just one of the four I thought were nice for the style I had in mind.

The first thing I did was spread my fabric on the floor, folded into two, and since I already have my measurements I went ahead to mark them on the fabric.

I cut out my measurements with added inches for allowance, what this means is, since the measurements for my waist is 24 inches, I had an extra one, to allow me sew easily ( that's why I call it allowance) and just incase I add weight overnight, I can always adjust the dress because of the allowance.

I repeated the process to cut out the back part of my dress.

I took the back part of my dress, unfolded it and cut into two equal halves. This will enable me insert the zip for the dress.

I went ahead to insert my zip, as you can see I used a black zip because I exhausted my pink zips and didn't have the luxury of time to go and buy. I honestly didn't see it as a problem, because if you're an artist, which I am, everything is art😌.

I brought the front and back side together and joined in as one.
It was starting to look like what I had in mind, I was excited because I really did this under very few hours and considering the pressure mehn! I handled it pretty well.

This is the part where I apologise, I was so much in a hurry and I couldn't take pictures of the process for the sleeves of this dress. It was getting late, anxiety was knocking but I didn't loose my heart. I did what I did and boom! My sleeves were ready.

I joined my sleeves to the dress, folded the hem of my dress and that was about it.
My dress was ready for the next day.
I had to clean it up and iron it for the launch tomorrow.

The big day came, I was ready for church and I rocked my newly made dress.
A friend took the pictures, I appreciate him, I really do. But moments like this I just wish I could jump out of my body and take my own pictures. I would have done Justice to this.
But I guess this is something. I like the way the dress came out, very simple, but the sleeves did the magic.

Service yesterday was amazing! I was so overwhelmed and I didn't post yesterday but I did eventually.

Thank you for stopping by today 🥰

loving the pattern.

Thank you 🥰

Wow, you are really looking so beautiful with you design, I love it

Thank you 🥰

I'm so impressed by people who can sew clothing. I work with leather, but at some point I'm going to learn to use that sewing machine in my basement. I have so many ideas for fun fashion I'd love to wear. Nice post!

Wow! I hope you start working with your sewing machine and start inspiring us with your creativity 🥰

the pattern of the fabric is beautiful, I love it, and what a great determination to say I want something and I'm going to do it and finish it, all of us who make have a lot of extra fabric, in fact I have fabrics that I bought years ago because they were beautiful hahaha, I think it's something of the trade

Finally! Someone else can totally relate to getting fabrics unplanned😂. Thank you for stopping by 😊
