Hey DIYers! I just completed a new batch of positive message, upcycled scrapbook magnets! :) The last time I made any of these was years ago, but I don't think I made a DIY post about it, just the distribution (there will be an #operationmagneto part 3 when I distribute these, hee hee). So I thought I'd do a little how-to. :)
You know those floppy magnets you sometimes get as adverts? They used to come on phone books when phone books were a thing, but also sometimes in the mail or maybe at some kind of event? Those are perfect for these! I first glued some stiff cardboard to the front of the magnets, which became my working surface to scrapbook on.
I used some origami paper and construction paper as my background, and then decorated them with stickers, buttons, brads, fabric flowers, paper cutouts, ribbon, etc.
The candy heart stickers on the "hug" magnet were not very sticky, so I decided to try and use the last of my clear glaze to anchor them in place. That turned out really messy - I hope it dries okay. In the past, I used this glaze on ALL the magnets I made, but I knew I was low and didn't have enough for all of the new ones. I think it became so messy not only because the stickers kept popping off as I brushed, but maybe it also was a bit different because the bottle was years old. I don't remember having this much trouble before. So I didn't glaze any of the others.
So I'm letting them dry and then I will leave them for people to find later! :) Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!
