Hello, beautiful people of Hive! I haven't been here in almost two months; it feels good to be back. How are you all doing? School has been hectic. Trying to handle four months of schoolwork in two months hasn't been easy. Thank God it's turning out okay.
I haven't been able to upload a post since my shell stitch flared-sleeve top, but I'm here with another needle work -- crochet as usual. Like I often do, I'll start with a little backstory. Shortly after school resumed, I purchased a pack of white yarn to make a jacket, a tank top and some other pieces. I never started on the jacket though. I decided to just go ahead with the tank top instead. Knowing that it wouldn't require as much time as most other projects, I started right away. I'd crochet every few minutes I had to spare, when I took about an hour break to relax with a movie or YouTube video.
I started by making a swatch to determine the number of stitches I'd start with and the number of rows I'd crochet till I reach my bust. I arrived at 70 stitches and 26 rows. I could finally start with my chain. I chained 70, then continued with double crochet stitches which I'd decided to use.
I continued upwards adding an increase in every two rows till I got to the fullest part of my bust where I was to start shaping the armholes.
I began shaping the armholes by doing three double crochets together in order to push it in. I did that on both sides till the last row where I only did two double crochets together.
After completing the row of two double crochet, I crocheted six straight rows together.
After that, it was time for the neckline. I did that by leaving some stitches in the middle long enough to accommodate my neck, then I did two three double crochets on the right side and left side of the neck for the first row, and one three double crochet together for the second row. From the third row to the shoulder where I stopped, I did two double crochet together on each row. With that, I had completed one panel. The back and front were going to be the same so I repeated the same thing for the second panel.
Before the end of the second week, I had completed the second panel. That day I finished, I joined them together. The last thing to do was to do single crochet round the arm holes and neckline. I did that for one armhole that day. The next day, I did that for the second and the neckline then sewed in the threads. All done!
All in all, I used up four and a half balls of 40g yarn. And I used it with a 3.0mm hook. What do you think about the final look guys?
I'd love to know what you think about the crochet tank top, so endeavour to drop a comment😘 . Expect more lovely posts, guys. I'll be going on a short break for Christmas so I'll certainly be able to drop a couple of posts this time around. Till then, ciao!
