He did this by himself!
With only two pieces of river cane and a short string, our ten year old was able to build a bamboo bowfishing bow and arrow, and sucessfully use it to harvest fish. He actually did this twice, but the footage from the first night got corrupted, so he had to do it all over again.
If things ever get really bad, simple skills like this will come in handy. Using local resources and getting creative can provide a more sustainable existence. What a fun homeschool bushcraft project, plus, he brought home some food for the family. Enjoy the show!
