For many years at home we have had this dictionary of synonyms and antonyms, but over the years the front and back covers had become completely detached; that's why I decided to give it a new life by taking advantage of some materials that I have within reach.
Desde hace muchos años en casa disponemos de este diccionario de sinónimos y antonimos, pero, con el pasar de los años se le llegó a desprender por completo la portada y contraportada; es por eso que aprovechado unos materiales que tengo al alcance dentro decidí darle una nueva vida.
To start with the process I took the cover of a magazine, which is made of a mixture of plastic and cardboard, which makes it resistant to place it on the spine of the book and in turn hold both covers. The measurements for cutting it out were: 26 long by 15 wide; and once it was cut out, we folded it in three parts so that it fits on the spine and paid with liquid glue.
Para empezar con el proceso tome la portada de una revista, que está hecha de una mezcla entre plástico y cartulina, lo que la hace resistente para colocarla en el lomo del libro y a su vez sostenga ambas cubiertas. Las medidas para su recorte fueron: 26 de largo por 15 de ancho; y una vez recortada doblamos en tres partes para que encaje en el lomo y paguemos con pega líquida.
Next we are going to cover the book with white cardboard, which will be 44 cm wide (4 cm more were added to create tabs on both sides (2 cm each)), and 30 cm long (being 26 cm but 4 cm more were added to create tabs of 2 cm). And this time we will use glue stick.
A continuación vamos a recubrir el libro con cartulina de color blanco, en que para su recorte será de 44 cm de ancho (se le agregaron 4cm de más para crear unas pestañas en ambos lados (2cm cada uno)), y 30 de largo (siendo 26 cm pero de igual forma se anexaron 4 cm de más para crear pestañas de 2cm). Y en esta ocasión usaremos pega en barra.
Then we put some illustrations to decorate and identify the book; and as you will see below, the first one is a handmade writing, and the second one is just a magazine clipping.
Seguidamente colocamos algunas ilustraciones para decorar e identificar el libro; y tal como verán a continuación el primero es un escrito hecho a mano, Y el segundo es tan sólo un recorte de revista.
Finally, we cover everything again but this time with transparent contact paper.
Ya por último, volvemos a recubrir todo pero esta vez con papel contacto transparente.
