It's a cold and rainy day here as I start my Monday tasks. I remember it's time for ZAPFIC, and this week it's a ZAPFIC50 Monday; and the prompt is "cover". Shiver me timbers as I remember the thick coverlet I just tossed off. That's what I think of when I hear the word "cover". The warm feeling of being secure and safe from the elements. It also gives me pause to think of those unfortunate individuals who spent the night outdoors. I pray for relief for their suffering.
This ZAPFIC50 Monday challenge format was created by @felt-buzz. The flash fiction story is told in exactly 50 words.
My story is below:
Long shadows pass over Audrey's bare shoulders as moist soil cling to her toes.
Distant wailing interrupts her brief contemplation.
Not much difference from the room she escaped without warmth or compassion.
Shaking off regret, she barrels forward, grateful for the repose, as she slips under the cover of stars.

Es un día frío y lluvioso aquí mientras empiezo mis tareas del lunes. Recuerdo que es la hora de ZAPFIC, y esta semana es un lunes ZAPFIC50; y el tema es "cubierta". Me estremezco al recordar el grueso edredón que acabo de tirar. Eso es lo que pienso cuando oigo la palabra "tapar". La cálida sensación de estar seguro y a salvo de los elementos.
