There are times when I get a few orders to make crochet flower bouquets and there's still more time to finish them, I would prefer to carry out the design I was considering before I forget or before my enthusiasm fades.
After I posted some pictures of my flower bouquets on some of my social media platforms, I spotted some crochet wearables, and I got hyped about making my own design.
So I put away all my materials for making flower bouquets and got my favorite type of yarn for making my crochet wearables. I've been using this Monaco Mercerized yarn for any crochet projects I had in mind since 2011.
Now, join me as I turn my fantasies into reality.😘
Materials:
In this project, I prefer to use the 5-ply Monaco mercerized yarn in an off-white color, my 2.75 mm crochet hook, cutter, and tape measure.
Procedure:
I decided to make a small size short with a waist measurement of 24-26 inches. I want the sides to be adjustable with ties to fit until 26 inches. So I started making the front side of the short, measuring the waist area at 12 inches. After I made the front part, I then made the back part of the short with the same measurement I made on the front part but adding some 3 stitches on the first row.
As you have noticed, there was an increasing stitch in between the front and back parts of the shorts.
I also added 2 rows in the lower portion of the back part of the short starting with a single crochet, half double crochet to double crochet and vice versa going on the other side. Note that I didn't start the stitches on the very beginning of the rows, I started the single crochet after an inch so we would have the same number of rows in our two sides of the short: the front and the back. (So we won't be having any problem in attaching the two sides later.)
Before I joined the two sides of this short, I made some chains connecting the crotch area of the two parts of the short then single crochet going back.
Now, I begin to make the other leg part by starting to make double crochet. After making 6 rows on the leg part, I made another 3 rows of dc-chain skip a stich then repeat making small holes. I then decided to make this kind of lace design on the edge of this short.
I just made the same pattern on the other leg side.
Below, I made some single crochet on the sides of the shorts and joined the front and back portion of the short by single crochet only on the lower part.
I also made a string to be inserted in the holes joining the two parts (of the shorts) and put a bead on each end for an additional accessory.
Now it's ALMOST DONE! 😊 The short seems good already but it looks plain so I decided to put some crochet flower appliques to brighten it up.
I tried placing all the daisy flower applique on the short, checking what would be the right position of the flowers.
After contemplating the final look, I finally settled on the final design and sewed the appliques onto the short.
Now that it's finished, it looks AMAZING.. 😍
I finished this short for two days, and I was glad with the result.
Thank you for reading until the end, and I hope it will inspire you to make your own design. 😘 God bless everyone. Happy Saturday!😍
