Designs

Details

The tops are designed for young woman. All designs are made for stretch fabric such as lycra, Bon Bon, viscose lycra or cotton knit.

The sexy shorts and top combo would work well as a swimming costume or perhaps for working out in the gym.

The designs have been developed to show a bit of skin, without being trashy.

I’d really like to see some comments and suggestions about these pieces.

What do you think about the designs?
What could I do better?
Suggest additions to the range.

These are, currently, being made into digital patterns, but I have to make all the samples and work out the kinks if there are any. I want perfect patterns - 😆 Haha, I know, IT’S HARD TO DO.

Good lord, woman!

You're a human with many talents :)

I have a design library. Part of my old life. I was a textile designer for one of the top manufacturers in Cape Town for around 7 years in total. I know... it seems unlikely but when you're as old as I am and you're into art and design you get to work in a variety of arenas... if you have itchy feet and a desire to learn new things.

I was thinking of putting it on @lmac but couldn't get hold of anyone on Discord and can't figure out how to upload so...

I would LOVE to chat to you about a possible collaboration with some digital prints and some cool clothing. It seems you have the skills right here.

This is a referral link to my online textile library portfolio by the way. Almost all of these are proper technically correct rotary repeat prints for large scale manufacturing. But if you're using digital then this probably won't make sense?

They are beautiful, you’re very talented. I’m making digital PDF patterns from my designs using the software I developed for it.

Who did you work for? I’ve was in the clothing industry for years.

PS: if you want to upload to LIL, you must make a post on Hive with the illustrations you want to add. Use LIL as your first tag. @nickydee

And most of this was my very talented dad's design direction btw... I was just the plumber!

And most of it is same but different from overseas stuff. You know how the large scale retail industry in ZA "works". 🙂

I made swimwear

Wow! Nice!

Okay... I'm gonna catch you on Discord fellow learner bee and seeker 👍🤓

I'm keen to know what else you've learned along the way!

Ah - okay. Thanks for that re LIL :) I had no idea how to...

My dad's company! He roped me in, in my early twenties to computerise his textile design department.

We increased sales by 60% and were the first in ZA to do it. It was pretty awesome. Then I left to follow a French boy overseas and started my own t-shirt thing for some years.

Later went back to work with him for a few more years. And then well.. clothing in ZA and shirty deals by government that hurt their own people's industry :/

We were called Chelsea West for a while. Later changed to Dreywin Finance.

We manufactured for the big chains. Fosch. Edgars. Truworths. Milady. But ended up getting sucked into a contract with Woolworths... say no more. Ahem. :(

My dad's name was Laurie. If you were in the industry you may well have known him. I try not to share my identity too much online but today have broken my own rules. Maybe I'm starting to feel safe around here :)

Your stuff is super cool. Really! I was totally brilliantly surprised by your creativity yet again. Who did you work with in the industry?

Chelsea West was a BIG name. Rex Truform, Delswa, and so many others went Down. The only guy who survived was Sissy Boy. I had 11 retail shops and a manufacturing concern. Covid happened. Haha. However, I still have all my assets, machinery and everything. I lost a husband on the way ( my second). I survive.

Omg

I'm so sorry for your loss. Brutal journey :(

Yes. He was a big name. Did very well and was very talented. ❤️💔

Thus life, huh?

My dad used to say it's not for sissies. He was right about that too.

We will prevail sister. One day at a time.

Oh... thank you :)

I moved into web development... and from there got certified for recovery assistance :)

I now work as a recovery coach - mental health and addiction. It's kind of a passion after my own journey. So I'm going to focus on this for the next while... I do love the work! But it's a new business so I'm building slowly and still floating after a bit of a crazy life challenge...

patience and perseverance.

And deadlines... 👀 Terrifying now and I'm too old! I used to love it! But now no thanks!

Oh yes please

I'm notoriously bad with comms and pop on and off so bear with me please

Or is it bare with me... 🤔

Regardless I'd love to connect.

See you there 😊👍

I write JavaScript, PHP, CSS, XML, and HTML. HAHA

🤣

Well who knew???

I think we're a bit alike there.

You find an interest, learn it get decent at it, get bored and find something new to learn?
