Hello, Community Greetings. and Happy Sunday. The community contest tribute to cats was announced and I was thinking about some really useful things to make for this tribute. I am not an artist or skilled handcrafter. I am a medical professional and busy with my work yes I do make food and post, as well tried to engage with some communities After some busy days got a good time to find something to do creatively. We travel a lot and have all the traveling requirements with us. but I have problems with the plane seats they are not very comfortable for my height. I brought many different kinds of travel pillows but I was not satisfied with those Many days I was thinking about making one myself how I need.
So today has done a trial of how to prepare it. As a tribute to cats, I Made the cats' faces on both ends. I haven't used very expensive materials just used a few things found at home.
Here is the material I used
2 socks are from some airlines.
some color beads
Cotton
blue, gray, and pink threads which I found in a cupboard
wool, needles, scissors the normal handcraft tools.
Turned socks inside out, and draw some lines the shape of a cat's ears and head on the socks.
Sew that lines and cut the outer part of the lines.
Turned back the right side of the socks out.
Started filling cotton inside socks. An appropriate quantity.
Started sewing the cat's face with threads and produced the shape according to my ideas. Still, I have to learn more haha:).
Then filled the socks until they were full.
Here they are filled with cotton. I kept it a little loose for softness
Then I started making a face using a needle and thread.
Marked eye-nose using a marker.
Started with a nose point.
For eyes, I chose some colored beads from my collection.
I found suitable ones with different colors to use.
I put blue beads for the eyes and pink for the nose.
Here they are with eyes and noses.
For one I used pink thread with chain stitch to make the nose, and one just with straight lines of pink thread.
Need mustache for cats. I marked the lines.
Made with gray thread using straight lines. And put some ornament in the neck in wool string.
Before making a U shape I put them together and rolled to get cotton how I wanted it.
To find my neck size I put them around my neck and fixed the size.
And sewed them together.
Here is my travel pillow is ready which looks and feels perfect for my neck.
Not bad for the first time's creation
But still need more improvement.
Maybe I will fix one hook/or button to put the ends together when I use it.
thank you.
