making green color at home.

in #hive-189641last year

Hello, community greetings. Today I made vegan natural gluten-free green food coloring at home. When I was thinking about making green dessert for @foodiesbeehive. I don't want to use any artificial colors from shops. I got this Idea when I started making my dessert.
the ingredients I used only.
#Spinach and #sugar
1 small branch of spinach cut off stems
1 tbsp sugar

It is simple.
Here is how I made it,

Washed spinach in warm and salted water.
Cooked it without adding water on low heat for 1 minute.
The spinach releases water as it cooks so i saved that to rinse the mixer.
the cooked and drained leaves were ground in the mixer
Covered a strainer with cheesecloth and strained it along with the spinach water used to rinse the mixer pot.

I got around 3/4 cup of green water/chlorophyll.
pored it in a pan and started cooking it. When it thickened
Added 1 tbsp sugar to the green water.

Kept stirring and cooking.

When the mixture became syrup consistency turned off the heat

Poured in the cup.

Poured in the small jar and after cooling down covered it.

I already used spinach paste in my dessert recipe so this one I will save this new recipe.
Thank you

Wow!! That's amazing. Is there any specific food you have to eat it with, or it can be added to anything

Mostly for sweet -dishes or cakes you can add this color.to make them green. Thank you for stopping by.🙏
