If you remember I hatched my own chickens and even broke down and bought a few from the farm storm when visiting. You can watch my chicken hatch video right here on Hive via 3speak here Raising Chickens
For about two months these chickens lived in the house in their brooder boxes keeping warm until they grew out their feathers and to be introduced to the coop. When I first added them in with the other chickens I kept them apart so they could get a little used to each other before introducing them into the flock.
You’ll see from the first two pictures how much smaller they still were from the other chickens but safe in their own area. The run that was built also could be split into two runs and early that morning they got to go outside for the first time and explore around. This was so fun to watch seeing them react to the new big world they were now in.
While all of that was going on there’s another section of the coop which you might have seen in one of my other vlogs. The other side of the coop needed a good cleaning and to get it ready for a new animal coming to the gubba homestead! Even one of my girls (the hen) was checking in on me lol
These chickens will no only provide me with a constant supply of fresh eggs but also much needed furtlizer to add to my garden. Progress on that has been hard but steady. Lots of work is going into the garden this year and easy morning I've been added seeds and getting it ready for the short growing season here.
Any ideas what new animal I’ll be introducing to the homestead?
