The contractor and I had wondered if cracks would appear elsewhere in the floor once the masonry heater was going. They did, in the dining room. We’ve taped them to keep dirt out.
When the contractor was here on Wednesday, we moved the corner shelf and blanket chest so he could put shims in between the wall and the flooring. It did tighten up the crack coming off the corner of the counter a little bit.
He’s hoping the shims will keep it from getting worse.
Then he went back to work on the root cellar shelves and finished this section.
He wanted to keep the 4’ length and discovered the support was off by some inches. So he has to dig it out and reset it before he can build the next section.
He said he’d be back on Friday or Saturday to start that.
