Snow, Stacking Rounds, Hauling Branches, Fire, Flatbread Buns, Grilling - Friday

Woke to an inch of freshly fallen snow yesterday morning, the system moved past pretty quickly and then it warmed up a bit during the day so the inch melted away by the afternoon.

It took me little while to get outside as I had to get my clothes washed first, but the first task was to shovel the snow away from the hay bales as there was still room on the pallets. I pulled the hay tarp up then stacked all the rounds on the pallets which got them out of the driveway.

The tarp fit nicely over the rounds which worked out perfectly as it snowed again overnight. The tree was standing dead and is well seasoned so I am trying to keep it from getting too soaked since I can split some and bring it in the house for burning now.

Then I got the branches moved. It was a major PITA dragging the branches over the snow as I trudged through the softness. The main point was to clear the driveway which I did, the rest of the branches will get hauled over the next few days unless i decide to burn the pile this weekend.

The pile in the middle of the garden which I really should get bigger before burning.

After picking the boys up from school I got a fire going in the pit for the evening.

Since I was making burgers for dinner I needed to make buns. I mixed up a double batch of tortilla dough and divided it into 16 pieces which I hand formed. The press made them WAY too thin so the hand forming made them a lot thicker.

They cooked on the stove until nicely browned. I really like making these as they take me well less than an hour start to finish and they are far better than store bought buns.

The burgers went on the grill and we were eating shortly after 6pm.

Another inch of snow this morning puts us over 4 1/2 feet of snow fall this winter. The system is moving through and we have some winds today which I hope to go try my power kite and see if it still flies. The chains need to be sharpened for the saw and I could go cut some more rounds so I can get the fence put back in place. 4 days till my surgery and thankfully the pain has abated for a while now,

It's remember me of the days where I live in a mountain place, we work a lot for the woods and than we grilled burgers and sausages 😋 such a satisfaction
