Grain Run, Trip Prep Chores, Patching Holes - Monday

in #hive-1143082 years ago

Yesterday morning I was in town again for grain. This was to be a good size load and they needed a couple of the barrels emptied for another batch they brewed.

I brought an empty with me so I was able to shovel a couple of the less filled barrels into it which then got slid up into the truck bed with another barrel.

4 barrels got strapped down on the trailer and I was able to leave 4 empty barrels for them. I probably could have gone this morning for the grain but I will wait until tomorrow morning.

It was a bit warmer after my lessons by 9 am but the ground was still frozen in the garden which made it nice for backing the trailer in as the tires didn't sink to the axle unlike in the sheep pen with the truck. I spread out the 4 barrels that were on the trailer which managed to cover the length of the garden along the fence. The hens were instantly on top of the grain even before I could get the truck moved.

I dropped the trailer which dropped itself off the jack again, the stupid ring clip is popping off and I need to clean the groove. With the trailer off I was able to mash my truck backwards into the sheep grain pen where my truck sank to the axle in the rear. I got the barrels emptied then luckily was able to get the truck out of the deep muck of grain. This year is going to be insane for the squash growing in this area. I may not have to water but a few times as deep as the grain is.

I spent some time during the day gathering various things that I am wanting to pack for next week. My skin is now nearing cleared and I have but a couple of touchy spots left which are rapidly clearing up. (Thank god as this shit wears on my psyche, it is EXTREMELY hard walking around in life looking and feeling like a leper and being in such pain.)

My favorite pair of pants that got the knee trashed when R and I fell over each other after a wrestling tournament were able to be patched. I happened to find a patch in the bedroom while I was rummaging which worked perfect for the 2 spots. The pants are a stretchy Mountain Hardwear fabric so I hope the patches will last without having to be sewed. But at least I have my favorite pants back now.

Today I have more prep chores to do, boys have last full day of school this week, J has practice tonight, I have my lessons to get through early, trailer to get hooked up for the next grain run, and hopefully my nerves will calm down a bit as the trip gets closer.
