Greetings dear readers welcome to my blog with a new art for children, this time we will star with the carnival.
Carnaval época de diversión y entretenimiento y en las escuelas no podía falta tal alegría, Gracias a la pandemia hemos cambiado un poco la dinámica para celebrar estas fiestas dentro de los recintos escolares como lo hacíamos años anteriores, aparte que la situación económica esta tan atropellada que hay que valerse de muchas otras opciones o recursos para mantener la alegría de vivir y no perder nuestras tradiciones.
Carnival is a time of fun and entertainment and in schools could not miss such joy, thanks to the pandemic we have changed a bit the dynamics to celebrate these holidays within the school grounds as we did previous years, besides the economic situation is so run over that we must avail ourselves of many other options or resources to maintain the joy of living and not lose our traditions.
Para esta semana en mi lugar de trabajo ubicado hacia el oeste en la ciudad de Caracas – Venezuela donde soy docente de cultura, tras la última reunión plantee realizáramos una jornada de expresión de emociones a través de la elaboración de máscaras con material reusable, pensamos que sería toda una novedad y comodidad aprovechar las circunstancias educativas actuales en la que estamos con la atención de pequeños grupos, para hacer de nuestra actividad de carnaval una clase abierta didáctica y lúdica para todos los grados.
For this week in my place of work located to the west in the city of Caracas - Venezuela where I am a teacher of culture, after the last meeting I proposed to carry out a day of expression of emotions through the elaboration of masks with reusable material, we thought it would be a novelty and comfort to take advantage of the current educational circumstances in which we are with the attention of small groups, to make our carnival activity a didactic and playful open class for all grades.
Con agrado aceptaron y concluimos que: en la mañana del día martes 22 y miércoles 23 febrero 2022 realizaríamos una actividad colectiva al aire libre donde los niños pudieran expresarse a través de la danza y la pintura compartiendo con sus compañeros, toda la actividad estuvo dirigida por mí con apoyo de las docentes de aula.
They gladly accepted and we concluded that: on the morning of Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 February 2022 we would carry out a collective activity outdoors where the children could express themselves through dance and painting, sharing with their classmates, the whole activity was directed by me with the support of the classroom teachers.
Días antes había ensayado con los niños una danza circular relativa al día del amor y amistad y también al amor por la tierra, entonces aproveché este encuentro para dar inicio con esa sencilla danza en ronda con expresiones corporales de saludos de bioseguridad, actividad que entiendo causo mucho más impacto del esperado y fue el plus para todo lo que luego vivenciamos.
Days before I had rehearsed with the children a round dance related to the day of love and friendship and also to the love for the earth, so I took advantage of this meeting to start with this simple round dance with corporal expressions of biosafety greetings, activity that I understand caused much more impact than expected and was the plus for everything that we experienced later.
Después de la danza circular les solicité buscar sus materiales para iniciar la elaboración de las máscaras, vale destacar que por ser una actividad colectiva en un gran patio me apoye de un micrófono para poder dar las pautas recibiendo el apoyo del resto del personal docente quienes también guiaban el procedimiento dentro de los pequeños grupos, por tanto no ofrecí muchos detalles dejando que fluyera la creatividad unas vez dada la primera parte que consistió en darle forma a la máscara.
After the round dance I asked them to get their materials to start making the masks, it is worth mentioning that since it was a collective activity in a large courtyard I used a microphone to give the guidelines with the support of the rest of the teaching staff who also guided the procedure within the small groups, so I did not offer many details, leaving the creativity to flow once the first part was done, which consisted of shaping the mask.
Materiales: pinturas escolares, pinceles, tijera, cartulina o carpetas en desuso, creyones.
Materials: school paints, brushes, scissors, cardboard or disused folders, crayons.
Lo primero fue ubicar la carpeta o cartoncillo en desuso y alrededor dibujar un gran ovalo, o circulo y si quedaba irregular también es válida, de ser así sería una máscara muy interesante.
The first thing was to place the folder or cardboard in disuse and around it draw a big oval, or circle and if it was irregular it is also valid, if so it would be a very interesting mask.
Luego con la tijera cortamos el borde dibujado, quedando ya la forma de la máscara dispuesta para empezar a diseñar la expresión y darle vida con las pinturas y colores.
Then with the scissors we cut the drawn edge, leaving the shape of the mask ready to begin to design the expression and give it life with the paints and colors.
Quise mostrar un ser enamorado por eso hice los ojos en forma de corazón doblando cada circulo por la mitad, dibuje así la mitad del corazón y al cortar con la tijera el otro extremo quedo igual, de esta misma manera se realizan los circulo para los ojos de cualquier otra forma, también la boca y nariz.
I wanted to show a being in love so I made the eyes in the shape of a heart by folding each circle in half, so I drew half of the heart and when I cut with the scissors the other end remained the same, in the same way the circles are made for the eyes of any other shape, also the mouth and nose.
Previamente les mostré a los niños unas mascaras con expresiones de emociones de las cuales ellos se inspiraron para hacer sus composiciones, quienes le dieron su toque personal integrando cuanta pintura y colores desearon al ritmo del Calipso y Merengue Caraqueño.
Previously I showed the children some masks with expressions of emotions from which they were inspired to make their compositions, who gave them their personal touch integrating as much paint and colors as they wished to the rhythm of Calypso and Merengue Caraqueño.
Cada mascara mostró parte de su identidad, una de las observaciones que les hice mientras las creábamos: “evitemos juzgar o menospreciar nuestro arte porque lo que hacemos es parte de nosotros y de lo que deseamos expresar, y eso es tan valioso como respirar”.
Each mask showed part of their identity, one of the observations I made to them while we were creating them: "let's avoid judging or belittling our art because what we do is part of us and what we want to express, and that is as valuable as breathing".
Durante el proceso de sus creaciones percibí en la mayoría de los niños un momento de goce estético, meditación, alegría, solidaridad, es decir esta actividad les permitió la libre expresión y disfrute, reconocido en sus palabras de agradecimientos al salir del colegio.
During the process of their creations I perceived in most of the children a moment of aesthetic enjoyment, meditation, joy, solidarity, that is to say, this activity allowed them free expression and enjoyment, recognized in their words of gratitude when they left the school.
Sin duda fue un momento catártico acompañado de música danza, dibujo y valores en una época que a pesar de los desbordes que pueda representar en la cotidianidad, nuestro carnaval escolar tuvo un toque distinto guiado por las emociones y sentimiento que en beneficio de todos.
It was undoubtedly a cathartic moment accompanied by music, dance, drawing and values at a time that despite the overflows that may represent in everyday life, our school carnival had a different touch guided by the emotions and feelings that benefit everyone.
