For those of you who are not familiar with me. Im the Butt. ive been living here in Guatemala with my wife and kids for the last 14 years. We have a little spot at the shores of Lake Atitlan. Its a volcanic crator formed a fuck ton of years ago.

Everything you see in this video happened on Thursday the 20th of July 2023. This is about the cutting down of an electical pole.

Many years ago i put in a complaint with the local electric company called Energuate. Like in most countries, energuate is a monopoly, there is no other company that you can choose if you dont like their electical service.
Solar is possible..but very upfront pricey. So if you want the lights on here at the lake...it Energuate. Well these fuckers had a tall wooden electical pole inside of my property.
It had so many wires on it that it started to tilt sideways, Kinda like the leaning tower of Pisa, only underneath this pole was a hostel Dorm with 10 beds in it.
Not ideal. So i put in a queja. (complaint) A year later i put in another. A year after that i sent a legal letter that i had given 2 registered complaints and that if it fell on my building energuate would be held accountable.. a year later i sent the same letter.
4 years after i started... with zero warning a truck arrived, and a giant metal pole was installed in the street. The wires from the wooden electical pole inside of my property were all switched to the new metal pole.
And then the Energuate truck just drove off, and they said the pole was mine to take care of.
mudda fuggers....lol...well atleast they did it 🤦‍♂️
So after another 4 years of looking at this slanted pole, hovering over the dorm building....finally today with the aide of many local mayan...we removed and cleared the dumb electical pole.
have a watch if you like tall electical poles getting chainsawed down 🤪

They added a metal post but the old wooden post was not taken away? Here in Argentina it is the same, electricity is a monopoly, the voltage goes up and down, one has to be careful that the electrical appliances do not break.

Yep, I've lost fridges and blenders in moments of 'alta voltage'.
And the company doesn't want to take any responsibility 🤦‍♂️
Where do you live in Argentina? I was a foriegn exchange student in Pergamino, Argentina when i was younger. I lived with a family for 5 months. Was awesome. At the time Menem was president.

I live in Bragado province of Buenos Aires, I was born in CABA capital of Buenos Aires but when I grew up I came to live in the interior of the province. Bragado is a smaller city than Pergamino. And better not even remember Menem haha!

Oh cool. I found Bragado on the map. Pergamino was in between you, on the way to Rosario.
I never went to Bragado, but that Bragado lake looks beautiful.
Yes, better to forget about Menem! Menem is kinda like waiting for a car crash.
I was in Pergamino in 1997. It was a very special experience for me. I’m still in touch with the family. Erquicia Luz. We lived above a lamps and lighting tienda. a family run Mom and Pop shop in downtown Pergamino.
Their youngest son Gerardo was my same age and had a motorcycle. We rode everywhere… out to fincas of friends or to gatherings of amigos for churrascos. I love Argentina, it will always hold a treasured place in my heart!
