Hello, i want to share about my new member of my cacti collection here.
I hope you all can enjoying my content this time

photo_2022-12-14_07-50-59.jpg

Here i just bought 5 cacti that tempt me to have it. i bought 3 Astrophytum Asterias and 2 Gymnocalycium Mihanovitchii
i am very like Astro family because every plant have different pattern if we look at top view.

photo_2022-12-14_07-51-00 (3).jpg

this for example i love it because they have white spot around its body that can looks like star in the sky but it is in this plant body and what i like after that is the white fur called aerolas for this plant which is super soft and can protect them from predator in the wildlife but yeah i concern on my plant and drive away any predator in near my plant

photo_2022-12-14_07-51-01.jpg

Similar with the one above this cacti dont have any white spot but just aerolas that firm the body and the ribs is super firm so i choose this plant

and i got the little on too as bonus

photo_2022-12-14_07-51-01 (2).jpg

a little one with combination of firm body and wrinkle white spot. Hoping it can big someday (need wait maybe 3-4 years to be growing until 4-5 cm)

And moving up with Gymnocalycium, i am choosing this one because the variegata colour that will bring up the lust of the body with yellow, pink, orange, and green combined in one body. Unfortunately in my country is rainy season right now so i must waiting another 5-6 months until i can dry it in the sun in dry season so the colour can be vibrant at the same time.
but i have to say this cactus not from seed it just cutting from its mother plant so hoping it can be growing up well in new place

I am adding this cactus to my collection because of the colour so lustfull and i hope in dry season the colour can so vibrant too so i can take more picture for this plant to post it on my instagram.

But overall the plants is very good and healthy after 5 days on the road.

So lets planting them right
first of all i am using plastic pot container made by local factory

photo_2022-12-14_07-50-58.jpg

with diameter of the container is 6 cm not to big and not to small so the plant can grow in one or 2 years later. but i am need to concern in 3 early months after planting because the container can be a backstab with so much pest inside the soil. And dont forget because cacti love dry so make sure the container need good drainage too.

Here i am using mix soil with the most composition is pumice stone that super porous stone so the soil can be dry fast second the most is cocopeat and husk also plant soil a little

after that we just need to plant it as usual.

Voila plant is perfect
After that i am adding a little cosmetic sand in the top so it can make the plant more beautifull and neat.

3 of them is using akadama soil i have leftover from years ago that neat and looking good in pict and because akadama is soil so it not harm the plant but the badnews after a few months maybe the soil will mix with the other soil beneath.

and the 2 of them i am using Desert sand looks like but it is just silica sand that colouring looks like dessert. Very neat and prettly similar with the desert condition right. But, this cosmetic sand have a bad condition if they are to wet it will clot so it will not drainage the water excess and to humid but the priviladge is because the sand so tiny it can be easy eroded with the water.
but Overall i am using 2 cosmetic sand just for photography because after some times passed it will be washed away from regular watering.

They are lovely cacti, very pretty and cute. I like the top layers of sand and gravel. It's an appropriate desert feeling background for them to sit on.

you think so??
i am really love that topping its very neat and cool too

What a lovely collections you have. I only have one but not sure what they're called. I just hope they don't die since honestly I am not that good at tending them. Ideally, how often should I actually water cacti?

depends on the humidity in your country if to hot you can watering every 2 days..but if too humid i suggesting around 1 week twice

It's not too hot but sorta humid. I'll keep in mind. Thanks.
