This is the story of the trip on Wednesday. I and some friends visited an oil palm plantation and palm oil processing site. This palm oil mill was built in 1993 and currently still produces Crude Palm Oil (CPO). This factory has workers who process palm oil into oil every day and from a distance, we can hear the sound of the engine from the company. I was allowed to enter the factory grounds and saw firsthand how the gigantic machine worked.
The need for raw materials for palm oil has many advantages, such as cosmetics, cakes, and coffee creams. Currently, the countries that grow the most oil palm are Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Nigeria, Colombia, and several other countries. When harvested, the skin of the palm fruit is reddish due to its high beta-carotene content and can be found to have oil and kernel content. And the palm harvesting process will be carried out every 7-10 days.
Currently, the State of Indonesia can produce 46,500 palm oil commodities and an increase of about 2.20 % from the previous year.
This is a garden land owned by the company PT. Socfindo (Nagan Raya) This garden is located in Nagan Raya – Aceh. Not far from this garden there is a crude oil processing factory. After the palm fruit is collected it is then loaded and transported to the mill.
I took the initiative to take some photos on the oil palm plantation because I have never been there. I deliberately shot these pictures when the oil palm farmers were working. In my opinion, oil palm farmers must have good physical strength because they are hard workers and allow the risk of accidents.
According to oil palm farmers. Oil palm plants have a productive period of 25 to 30 years. So it is important to choose the best seeds so that these plants can be harvested in the long term and have more productivity for decades. Once the palm fruit is harvested, it is sent to the mill to be sterilized using steam to free the fruit from the bunches. After the fruit is released from the bunch, the palm fruit is processed into crude oil and then transferred to a processing plant to be processed into vegetable oil.
This is a sterilization method using steam so that the palm fruit is released from the bunch and then processed into Crude Palm Oil.
