Today was one of those days, folks! Everything that could go wrong did go wrong and it all started this morning.
This morning my wife's car engine light came on and eventually the car would not start at all.
First, I searched for an found a auto float charger but that didn't work out after a few hours. At that point, I decided it was time to try the jumper cables.
Before repositioning my truck for the jump, I decided to see if my wife could help me unload a smoker grill I purchased yesterday. That didn't go very well.
As we attempted lifting it off the tailgate, she lost confidence and suggested laying it back. The only problem is one of the wheels got caught between the tailgate and bed. It came apart to my dismay and frustration.
Despite the damage, we managed to lay it down and continue the job. Had to ask AI to remind me which terminals go first and was reminded that red to dead, red to good, black to good, black to ground on dead battery. I followed the instruction and waited a bit.
Tried to turn her over and all I got was, "Click, Click, Click".
I asked my wise father for counsel and his advice was to have battery tested. I eventually made my way to the nearest auto store.
The technician ran tests and determined the battery was bad. I made my way to Costco for a replacement.
I made my way home, installed the battery started the car and took her round the block. What a relief!
I was leaving for a trip tomorrow so knew I had to get this fixed. Oh yes, but I pulled out our doorknob during this process. Deadbolt was sticking a bit but a bit of a tug allowed me to open it but today was a special day.
*The doorknob pulled clean off.
"What are the odds?!", I wondered in my head but continued on intent to address each problem in the order they appeared.
The next struggle was the doorknob. I learned that, in a pinch, you can use a pair of kneedle nosed pliers to expand snap rings to put a door knob back.
For now, I fixed it but have decided to call in the pros to help with the deadbolt alignment and repainting. The entire ordeal of this day unfortunately interrupted the planned run but we manage to get some Halloween decorations up!
