Hello Needleworkers, it is yet another Monday to wake up and show up like we always do.
I hope you are having a good day.
Well, I was playing around with #canva to create this template, I hope you like it.
Well, like the question on that template says.. "Do you know that colours inspire style?"
Colours are very powerful and can trigger different kinds of feelings, aura or emotions and this is what happened to me.
While sourcing this fabric, I initially wanted to buy Red colour crepe just to make something unique but then my eyes stumbled on this Fayrouz colour duchess and immediately I was inspired to make a particular style.
Here's the fabric and another feather-like fabric, which I combined.
This is a very cool colour and yet attractive and I think I fell in love because it is not a common colour outfit.
What does this colour inspire me to make?
Well, join me as I take you through the process of this outfit.
I bought about 3yards of Duchess and that bail colour fabric, well I don't know the name of that fabric that looks like feathers, and I will be excited if a fellow designer tells me the name of the fabric as no man is an island of knowledge.
I had it in mind to make a wrapper and top with that fabric, but I didn't want to do the regular wrapper and top I see around my hood, so I opted for something unique.
I placed the fabrics on the floor and folded them into four ready to mark out my bodice and sleeve.
I marked out the neckline which was a round neckline, to put a collar to the neckline and then I cut the sleeve together with the bodice and cut it out as seen here.
Here, I have cut out the collar and added my gum stay(interfacing) to it to make it firm on the neckline.
I proceeded to cut an extra lining for the neckline to give it a neat finish.
Here, on my sewing machine tried to turn the lining.
I turned the neckline first before running a stitch around the collar as seen here.
Now, I have turned my collar and attached it to the neckline.
I started to cut that feather-like fabric into bits to attach it to the sleeve of my outfit.
When I was done, I cut out about 2 and a half yards of fabric for the wrapper and hemmed it both by the side and on the hem of the fabric.
I gave the top a beautiful press so it looks very neat and beautiful.
That's a sneak peek at what it looks like.
So, I ensured to take a nice shot of the outfit and share with you all how this colour inspired something unique and beautiful.
How did I do with my photos?😅😅
Well here's a final picture for you.
So initially, I would have just made a beautiful dress with the red crepe I had in mind but all of that changed as soon I stumbled on this beautiful colour.
What do you think about the style and colour?
Have you ever been inspired by a colour before?
All images used are mine and shot by me.
Amie,
