Today's post is somewhat different from what you're probably used of from me. It doesn't include any dinos, but shows another side of me that you might or might not be aware of...
I am listening to the latest podcast of Clare Galloway, @clareartista , titled 'How Do I Know What to Trust?' - that can be found here , while I am cooking 'favas' ( broadbeans ) for lunch. Meanwhile, I am also in the process of creating mini greenhouses, from plastic water bottles.
Yesterday morning, a neighbor and I made our way to one of the several weekly markets in the area, marveling about the autumn colored leaves on the trees along the road.
At the market, I slowly filled my backpack with an abundance of amazing produce
and yes, I also paid for them
as pictured below:
Funny enough, my younger sister, who lives in The Netherlands, recently grew these magic beans in her garden.
I still like to call them magic beans ( and did so - in Portuguese - when I bought them from a Portuguese lady ). I think she liked that :<)
In fact, I talked to every person that I bought stuff from - that's how I roll! - and some of them liked the attention. I say 'some', as one old geezer who sold seeds ( you can see those, red, pea seeds at the mid right of the picture, touching two pumpkins ).
I asked the old man about planting those seeds and growing the pees but, apparently, I asked too many questions and he lacked the patience to actually try to explain all this to me. An old lady tried to help out but he just wanted me to pay and move on haha!
After the market, I had a similar issue with a Portuguese guy my age, at a coffee/ lunch place, when I asked for a specific kind of coffee, but that's an entirely different story ;<)
In the end I complimented him on his English - as he was treating me as a tourist, eventhough I speak decent Portugese - and gave him a little tip. This, eventually, seemed to change his opinion of me. I am a true diplomat.
I can be a handful at times but hey, I like to talk and sometimes I really know what I want, Libra or not, haha!
At the market, I also bought a big black barrel of the type that tends to be used to store olives, among other things.
After returning home, I moved the olives, that I had plucked days ago, over to that barrel. They have to be kept in there for another week or so, before I will start the pickling process.
In the end, the plan is to fill a dozen of jars with amazing azeitunas/ olivas and I will probably share the result in a future post ;<)
To get back to the food that I bought on the market...
I have to admit that I feel a little guilty about all the plastic bags. I usually bring my own non-plastic bags and will make up for this next time around.
Which brings me another project that I started today, namely:
The Construction of Mini Green Houses from Water Bottles
(Un)fortunately I have collected a lot of plastic water bottles, as of late, as I have been living in a house with (un)drinkable tap water, since December.
Having also been surrounded by many places ( particularly my twin sister's quinta ) with amazing natural drinking water, in the last 3 plus years, I reached a point where I can hardly stand the taste - and idea - of tap water and all the crap they put inside.
I have been wanting to get myself a drink water filter for quite some time now, but the one that I was looking for, has been sold out for half a year or so. Luckily I learnt, recently, that new stock will arrive in a week or so. Can't wait!
I have done nothing major with the water bottle greenhouses and I didn't take any pictures of my amateur set up, but I might do so in the near future.
Here's the post that inspired me, which I found via Ecosia, the greenest Search Engine that I've ever used:
Also, this afternoon, I reached out to the aforementioned Clareartista in a DM, to ask whether she might want to coach me / help me out with long term health and energy issues that I just don't seem to get rid of by myself, no matter what I try.
I trust that she and I can come to some kind of exchange ( she helps me, I help her ) that is valuable to both of us :<)
The latter is something that I am turning toward more and more, not just because it feels good but also because I'm done with the old ( financial system and way of doing things ) and I have been moving toward a more intuitive and holistic approach for quite some time now.
Clare is the perfect person for this, in many ways, and I expect to learn a lot from her ( no pressure, Clare, haha! )
I am gonna end it here for today.
Much Love,
Vincent
P.S. Here's some possible future health posts that you can expect from my side:
- Pickling Olives
- Drinking clean water
- Water Bottle Mini Greenhouse updates
- Making Home Made Yoghurt ( I got myself an old French yoghurt machine
P.P.S. I also made nettle tea from hand picked burning nettles, today and almost had to save a little dog from drowning at a small waterfall.
P.P.P.S. I will probably get back to dino writing tomorrow ;<)
