Hey, guys!
Let me ask you: what do you like more, receiving gifts or giving gifts?
When I was a child, I love to receive gifts, and to say the truth, I don't remember if I ever choose a gift, because, you know, usually the choice is up to those who pays. Anyway, my family's income was quite modest though my parents worked hard, and gifts were very rare. Even then, they were often a disappointment.
But when I grew up I found that I really enjoy giving gifts. No, that's not exactly true. Everyone loves to give gifts, right? But a special pleasure is the choice of a gift, especially for someone you know good. This is what makes me really happy.
At first, I need an idea. My ideas are often too many.😂 I like to listen and observe, so I usually know what my friend or loved once dreams about. Sometimes a good idea appears many months before a memorable date! And all this time thinking about the joy that my gift will give is actually my best gift. 💝
But it looks like I got carried away.😇
These wooden mechanical models truly stole my heart. No, I don't assemble them myself, but the pleasure is mine when Nick comes to me and says: "Look what I have assembled!" And I see the joy of a little boy in his eyes.
All right, so my most recent gift was Mechanical Tower Windmill.
Number of parts: 585
Level: Hard
Assembly Time: 15 hours
Because he's an engineer, hahaha. And don't like simple tasks. So do I.
This is his 4th model, and the first that has ropes and threads and pieces of fabric. They will become sacks of flour.
Nick started right away :D The first thing that every construction needs is a basememt.
Then goes gears. There are two of them in the photo, first two, but they are many more. 😂
In order for the mechanism to spin, tension is needed. These rubber bands power on the whole mill. Sometimes it's nice to be a blonde ;)
And the view from the top, it's so cool!
Sonia is wondering what's going on. She is glad to have a new stuff to explore and play. 👩
Guess what's this. I mean, what it will be ))) A chain! A wooden chain. They don't stop amazing me!
I think I could assemble this vane too ;o)
Then go windmill wings.
This is how it looks all together, with one of four ready wing. Manufacturer says it is fashioned in a “Victorian steampunk” style. Also, the model is "inspired by a real mill in Chesterton, England, owned by Sir Edward Peyton, an English landowner, and politician."
Very soon, we'll see if it can do that beautiful rotation that I saw on their website. They put key hints on the item.
Now it's my turn. I didn't want to make a video, so the idea was to show at the photo that it do moves :) Using my poor equipment, this is my best so far. I tried to pick the longest exposure to convey the motion of wings.
Well, it's not perfect. Nick made a mistake, yes, it happens, and he invented a fix for it. But the rotation and the motion of the mill is not exactly what I saw in the video. I think Nick needs more practice :)
But this is the case when the process can be even more important that the result itself. For Nick, it was assembling, when he was calm and totally captured with the process, and it was his stress relief. He recently had the first surgery in his life. Men in such matters are more sensitive than women. As he was told, he can now imagine the pain a woman feels at the birth of a child.
As for me, I was glad to see the Friday's topic Do It Yourself in @diyhub's post. I thought that I can finally finish this post, and don't think about my mom's heart surgery that she had 3 days ago, and all that things about what will happen next. Don't guess a hundred times will Russia attack my country soon or not... I try to focus on things I can manage. That's why I am here today.
That's all, I suppose. Thank you for your time and support, and wish you peace and happiness in your heart, your home and your country.
See you,
@zirochka
