I was gifted a large amount of scrap wood that I didn't have a clue what to do with it.
So I decided to build a playhouse for my children!
Just to warn you, I have no previous DIY experience and decided to just dive in with no plan.
This project has been going on for a few months now due to the good ol British weather.
I started off with a handsaw and a corded electric drill. If you ever want to build something of this size, I highly recommend good tools! A hand saw is defiantly not a recommended tool for such a large project.
I started with making a base length 6 foot 4 square. 5 x 200mm screws were used to secure the base together to give a good solid base.
The sides again were made to the size of 6 ft 4 square. Also keeping with the 5x200mm screws.
After cutting the wood by hand and using a corded drill I decided a chop saw and a cordless drill was the way to go. This managed to speed up my work from several years to minutes to knock together the side frames.
Keeping the building as square as possible also made it alot easier and quicker to build.
I managed to get a hold of several sheets of Perspex to enable me to make windows. These were the hardest part of the build so far. Perspex turns out to be extremely tough to cut even when using an electric cutter.
I am this far into the build and waiting for nicer weather to allow me to continue with the build.
Once I have good weather Il be building the front of the playhouse and creating a door frame and door.
Any tips to help me with doing the roof please let me know.
