In 2018 I watched the movie A Star Is Born and I was delighted with the performance of Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, years before I had seen the version starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. What I love about these movies is not so much their plot, but that they are musical productions. One of those songs that I love is "Shallow", composed by Lady Gaga in collaboration with Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and Anthony Rossomando. This piece of music is of the country rock genre and was written and developed from the movie script. I'm not going to tell you details about the movie, because if you haven't watched it, you don't deserve a spoiler from me. The song is quite reflective and questions an empty and superficial life. I did two voices with the trumpet in the chorus, it was really an experiment because it's the first time I've edited a video this way. I think I need to equalize, but I'm really happy to experiment and learn.
Today I want to share a reflection on the importance of changes. Many of the changes that occur in our lives are part of a natural process. We changed schools, to high school and then we continued university life, with undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Some of us go from living alone to living with a family, the children are born, the children grow up, they leave home and they form their family. These are aspects for which we are prepared. In our life project, we always think that we are eternal, or that at least we will last 100 years of life. The changes that affect us the most are those for which we are not prepared, such as the advent of illness or death. I like to think about the process of metamorphosis that a butterfly goes through, a painful but necessary process. With the arrival of a new year, each one makes adjustments for his happiness. There are trivial changes, but there are also important ones. Any change if it is for our well-being and if it helps us grow is welcome. The most important thing is to ask yourself if what we are doing today requires a change, that will help us to act with resilience and to be better every day.
Shallow
Tell me something, girl
Are you happy in this modern world?
Or do you need more?
Is there something else you're searchin' for?
I'm falling
In all the good times, I find myself longin' for change
And in the bad times, I fear myself
Tell me something, boy
Aren't you tired trying to fill that void?
Or do you need more?
Ain't it hard keeping it so hardcore?
I'm falling
In all the good times, I find myself longing for change
And in the bad times, I fear myself
I'm off the deep end, watch as I dive in
I'll never meet the ground
Crash through the surface, where they can't hurt us
We're far from the shallow now
In the sha-ha, sha-ha-llow
In the sha-ha-sha-la-la-la-llow
In the sha-ha, sha-ha-llow
We're far from the shallow now
Oh, ha-ah-ah
Ah, ha-ah-ah, oh, ah
Ha-ah-ah-ah
I'm off the deep end, watch as I dive in
I'll never meet the ground
Crash through the surface, where they can't hurt us
We're far from the shallow now
In the sha-ha, sha-ha-llow
In the sha-ha-sha-la-la-la-llow
In the sha-ha, sha-ha-llow
We're far from the shallow now
