I can't exactly remember the last time I looked at a physical calendar; it's either I get the date from my phone(virtually) or I don't get dates at all. There are days when we look at a calendar we feel elated. Could be on our birthdays, anniversaries or even independence days.
As I have a large stash of cartons at home, I decided to make something outstanding from them. This lead to the birth of this tabletop calender. A table top calender is basically a calendar that sits on a table. It contains the months in a year and the days of the month.
While making this table top calender, I learnt one new things; to make crafts you need a lot of precision and accuracy. Without beating around the bush, let me take you through the procedures of making the calender.
Materials.
- Cartons
- A pair of scissors
- Gum
- A ruler
- A pencil
- A maker
- Spray paint.
Procedure.
First, I assembled all the materials especially the cartons. With the number of cartons I assembled, one would think I was going on a carton war.
After assembling my materials, I went ahead to cut out four rectangles for my base.
I joined the four rectangles together and went ahead to cover their edges with a thin carton.
For the frame , I carved out two pieces of carton with precised measurements, smoothened the edges and joined them together using glue.
With that, I went ahead to cut out smaller triangles which I used for the numbering. I cut thirty little triangles in total which would contain the days and the months in a year.
I made little holes on the top of the papers so that I could easily pass strand that would fasten the numbers to the frame.
I went ahead to fasten all the number and the months to the frame, giving it this look.
The final phase was the coupling phase and spraying phase. I attached the frame to the base, sprayed it black with the spray paint and that was pretty much everything. The table top calender is ready.
What do you think of it?. Wouldn't it be nice to have something like this in your table to keep track of the days? I'd love to hear your suggestions, corrections and your thoughts too. Thank you for your time.
