Good day, friends. It's good to be back here, and I hope you're all doing well. Today I decided to share one of my handicrafts, which has been awhile since I last did. A very close friend that I met here on Hive contacted me to help her make some footwear, and while in the process of doing that, someone saw me making the footwear in my new environ and asked me to make something for him as well, and here is the process of the making.
The person who asked me to make these Birkenstocks for him is actually my neighbor, but he was surprised to see me making footwear because he knows me as a teacher. Then I had to tell him this is what I actually did in my former place before moving here, so since he saw some of the footwear I was making was that of a Birkenstock, he asked me to make one for him as well.
MATERIALS USED
- Brown suede leather
- Brown lining
- Birkenstock insole
- Nora outsole
- Oci gum
- sewing machine
Thread - Buckle
MAKING PROCESSES
- Once I discuss my rate with him and he agrees, I went to the market to purchase all I'll need and below is me cutting the suede leather into my desired shape.
- After cutting, I placed the pattern I've cut on the brown lining, which I then draw the shape on with my biro before cutting the lining according to the shape drew.
- After both the lining and the upper suede as been cut, I applied enough oci gum on the inner part of both and place them on each other, I smoothen it with my hammer.
- Here is how I sewed the edges of the suede with the sewing machine.
- And here is me attaching the bucket to each of the straps and then joining the upper design to the birkenstock insole.
- I cut the Nora into the perfect shape for the birkenstock, then a applied gum all around it, join the birkenstock to it and hit with a hammer till it's perfect.
- Here is how the Birkenstock I make for my new neighbor looks like.
Thanks so much for your time, I hope you enjoyed the read and learnt a thing or two from the tutorial, have a blessed day.
