Namaste! ๐๐ผ
You must have seen those gardening-related shorts on Instagram etc. in which sometimes they grow roses from cutting in banana and sometimes grow guava in Aloe Vera gel and so on. Similarly, I have seen the processes of growing many types of plants many times, which at first sight seemed no less than a joke and to be honest, I didn't even believe them.
But after watching a few such reels, I started seeing similar reels often through auto recommendation. So I thought let's check it once and then will make a permanent opinion about it.
In those days, I had seen many shorts showing the easy way of growing multiple plants using the leaves of a snake plant, so I chose this plant as my subject. I already had some snake plants in my terrace garden and some of the leaves of one of them had broken off on its own due to extreme heat. This is early May!
Those leaves separated when I held them lightly, so I thought of following the reels process with these leaves only and I followed a completely raw method. Just like you tear a piece of paper with your hands, I divided these 3 leaves into two parts from the middle with my hands which you can understand by looking at the image below.
Then I sowed all these 6 leaves from their newly cut side in a pot in about 1 to 1.5 inches of soil like this and watered it well. After this, I should have kept this pot in a partially sunny place, but due to lack of knowledge, I kept it on the open terrace along with other plants, due to which the peak summer sunlight started falling on it.
And because this time the heat also broke all its records, no snake plants emerged from this experiment for almost two and a half months. But since these leaves were also green and some had taken hold in the soil, I did not lose hope. Then after the first heavy rain of monsoon at the end of June, these leaves in the pot became miserable after which for the first time I felt that perhaps no plant would grow on it.
But a few days later, I saw a tiny snake plant growing from the root of a leaf.
This was happening two and a half months after sowing these leaves, this wait was quite long. But the fruit of this wait was really very cute and satisfying. I screamed and called my wife and showed her this, we were both so happy.
And once again my faith in the miraculous powers of monsoon rains increased. Yes, not once or twice but many times after the monsoon rains, I have seen dry and almost dead plants coming back to life and I have quoted this many times before.
Well, just a few days later, I saw another small plant growing similar to this one. Well, I already have more than 10 snake plants and now with these new 2 plants, this snake family has become even bigger.
And finally I can say that all those short videos are not fake either. Since I have only tried one so far, I cannot vouch for the authenticity of all of them, but the idea of โโgrowing the snake plant easily from its leaves is absolutely correct.
That's all for today's blog.
