An experiment to save a lot of potato sprouts🌱

in #hive-1406358 days ago

Namaste!

You may call it my obsession but think from my side for once. There was a time last year when I tried dozens of times to grow potatoes but the potatoes did not sprout. That was my first time and such failures are normal because you are learning along the way. And then this year, a few days ago, about 1 kg of potatoes that I had bought sprouted on their own while lying in a polybag. It was as if they were telling me let's do this together this time. 🌱

How could I refuse? And then after sowing those few potatoes that day, their super fast growth made me super excited. Earlier I had planned to sow some carrots or radishes in one of my biggest pots, but then last week when my wife opened the bag of potatoes again to cook food, she saw that almost all the potatoes in it had sprouted. 🌱🌱🌱

My wife said that I wanted potatoes right now, so either I should ignore the sprouts and cook the vegetable or you go to the market and buy potatoes. And I got a better idea, I told her just to separate these sprouts and cook food with the rest of the potato.

She did the same and separated the sprout with a thin slice of potato and placed it in a tray. Here I must tell you that I don't know whether the potatoes grown from this will grow properly or not because to date I have seen everyone sowing whole or half-cut potatoes only. So this is a unique experiment for me! 🙃

This is the biggest about 24 inches pot in my garden. Earlier it had celery plants but since I have celery in 2 other pots too, I emptied this big pot to grow seasonal vegetables.

A common and important practice of pot preparation is to place some pebbles over the drain hole in the base of the pot along with a layer of dried leaves at the bottom so that excess water can drain out easily.

How successful this experiment will be, we will know after some time, but I am sharing with you the things that I kept in mind. So, it took me 2 days from separating these sprouts to planting them in the pot, so during that time, I kept these sprouted slices in a tray and put some water in it so that the germination continued to grow.

And to be honest, I have also seen its advantage because the extra hair that you see at the bottom of the sprouts has come only after cutting and placing them in the tray.

The process after this is completely the same. I filled the pot with soil up to about 40% and set these seedlings in it at a certain distance and then covered them completely with another layer of soil and watered them lightly.

This is the result after 2 days. Some plants have grown and have come out of the soil and their roots are also looking thick and big.

This is a picture taken 4 days after sowing, in which most of the germination can be seen outside the soil.

And this is the picture of today, 6 days after sowing, here you can see the potato plants blooming about 3-4 inches outside the soil. So based on the results so far, it can be said that it is going well because no problem has been seen in the germination and growth of the plants. Now what will be the future journey of these plants and whether these plants will be able to give birth to a lot of potatoes, we will know all this only after a few months and I will definitely come with that story too. 🥔

I hope you liked my gardening!😊

Thank you for your time, have a lovely day!🙏🏼

Ohhhhh. You remind me of something just now! I left my potato under my cabinet! I let it sprout there to transfer when it is ready.

Wow, I hope they sprout well. :) Happy Gardening!

I did a transfer yesterday! =)

Wow, hope they grow well. Do let us know about their growth if possible! :)

Thank you! I will make sure to update you soon. I hope it will leave! LOL

Good morning Mr. @untilwelearn
How great it is to see all these sprouts, I hope the plants thrive well and you can have an excellent harvest
Enjoy the weekend

Thank you for these lovely wishes. :) a great weekend to you too!

I never knew potatoes were grown like that. I often see leftover potatoes but I throw them away. Turns out they can be replanted.

Wow, interesting. May the potatoes live healthily and bear fruit.

Thanks for this lovely wish. :)

Wow, amazing

Thank you!

Welcome

Bhai, mein to shocked tha aapka thumbnail dekh kar ki 2 dino mein harvesting bhi kar li aapne. 🤣🤣🤣

Experiments rukne nahi chahiye.
Bhai ko salute 🫡🫡🫡

Hahaha haan growth acchi hai par itni bhi nahi ki itni jaldi harvesting ho jaye bhai.
Waise usse pahle iske flowers aane par bhi ek blog post karunga.
Agar ye experiment kaam kar gaya to aap samjho wastage ekdum zero ho jayega. Jab bhi aloo ankurit ho bas ek patla slice kaatkar bo do aur bas ho gaya. Par Abhi Ye Khayaali Pulaav Hain😅

Thank you bhai!😊🙏🏼

They would surely do well because over here, we plant the sprouts too, just that they don't grow as big as the ones planted whole.

Maybe the reason is something else related to the soil, weather or timing? But whatever at least they grow well and you harvest many fruits. :)

You are quite obsessed about gardening. But, it's a good one :)

Carry on, brother.

😁 It makes me happy and full of positivity.
Thank you for appreciating it, brother! 🙏🏼

Mene bhi try kiya h and results are good this time

Arre wah, hope humare in paudhon ke sath niche aloo banne ka result bhi accha ho!😊

Kash hum dekh pate 😛😛

Dekhna kya hai ab seedha khayenge😋 aur kuch weeks!🥔
