I am not a fan of belongings. I believe that people with less stuff tend to be happier, as long of course as they have what is essential to live the life they want with dignity. But I have managed to have way more things than I could carry in one luggage... Way more... One of them, and probably my most precious and biggest belonging is my beloved weaving loom! It introduces me into a magic world each and every time (unless I get stuck and I forget everything I said above and dream of a new perfect one, till I get calmer and become again its loyal servant :)

You can imagine that the biggest challenge during our relocation from Crete to Nafplio was the transportation of the loom! That was not its first move, but I hope the next one will not be too soon. You can see it standing strong and you don't imagine how fragile and sensitive this beast can be.

Best helper ever!

Working until late without proper lighting yet.

The most delicate parts traveled with me by car. The biggest ones and the most stable traveled by the transportation company and we reunited after 3 long weeks.

When I bought the loom and it came from Athens to the island of Crete, I had no idea how to put it together. Somehow I managed to do it, so I was confident that now I could easily do it since that would be its third move, but I also knew how difficult it can be mostly because the woods are old and many screws are either stuck or rusty. I couldn't have done it without the help of @fotostef who has slowly become a weaving loom expert :)

What goes where? 😕

The light in the new place is beautiful! I had missed that so much in the previous house. And although the new place is very small, there are stuff that suit very well with the loom, like the very high ceiling and the old-fashioned floor. And I have never worked again with such beautiful light.

Someone is happy!

The setting up is one part and putting on the warp another. You can admire @fotostef concentrating on every move. Definitely a hard job and a good meditation. No mistake is forgiven at this stage and we did none :)

Almost ready.

I know it is not a very creative in the means of making something post, but I also know that the members of this community will understand deeply how important the moment you reconnect with your yarns is :)

The whole process took about two days and then I was ready to start. Or at least I thought I was ready to start. Some things hadn't gone that well and a damage had been done during the transportation. I had a few hard days ahead, but now all is much better although not perfect. Anyway, I was never an admirer of perfection :)

All the pictures and the words are mine, apart from the pictures that I am in and are taken by @fotostef, but I did the editing so don't blame him :))

If you would like to know more about me this is my introduction post.

Sort:

i am not sure if i should ask 😁 how is it going?

No panic attack or any severe damage was observed while reading this question, so I guess it is going well? 😁
Slow for sure and almost steady! You know us too well I think!

that sounds like progress 😁

That's the spirit 🤣

I was determined to respond to this post whether I was 7 days late or not :D

I’m so glad you said

…but I also know that the members of this community will understand deeply how important the moment you reconnect with your yarns is

Exactly so! This is the type of post we have been encouraging members to bring to the community. It doesn’t have to always be a massive post about a project but we love seeing the background and foundation of the things. This post was wonderful to read about the relocation and rebuilding of your precious tool. The photos are beautiful and very intriguing!! Your new space and the lighting looks dreamy and I am so happy for you!!!

Thanks greatly for posting this ~ 💓

I was determined to respond to this list whether I was 7 days late or not :D

Haha, that's really, really sweet :)

Thanks so much for the encouragement and your support! It was a difficult project relocating the loom, but the new place and natural light are dreamy indeed and I am happy we made it :)

Decided not to show my craft mad wife this post. We do not have room for a loom!

Happy weaving.

Sounds like a wise choice :))
Thanks so much for stopping by!

The weaving loom itself is a piece of art.
Can’t wait to see your works.

It is a beauty, isn't it?
Thanks so much for your support :)

Wow... It looks amazing and with all those parts, I would spend 2 months on getting it in order, not "just" 2 days! 😃 It does look amazing and with that natural light, I bet you will spend a lot of time in that room! :)

After checking out your post I will never complain about IKEA furniture! 😂

Haha, yes! 🤣 Imagine the most complicated Ikea furniture, second hand and without instructions 😁 I think I can do anything now!

When I first got it, a few years ago, I actually spent about 2 months trying to figure it out. There is a progress!

Thanks so much for your support!

I hope the damage is repairable... I found the whole post fascinating as I've never seen a loom in bits and then slowly reassembled. And there's the handsome black assistant...

I hope so, too! I think it will get better in time, it already works much better than the first days, so I am very optimistic!
The handsome black assistant and I thank you so much, dear @goldenoakfarm :)

So beautiful, thanks for sharing, that property is incredible, I understand the effort of moving with it but it is gratifying to see it assembled, thanks for those photos and I will stay tuned for what will come out of it

Thanks so much for this encouraging message! I hope some nice pieces will come out of it soon :)

This looks great. I hope to learn how to use this soon. I love your pictures.

Thanks for stopping by @doreenarch :)

Manually curated by ackhoo from the @qurator Team. Keep up the good work!

Thanks so much @qurator and @ackhoo! Always highly appreciated :)

You're very welcome, @traisto! It all looks terrible complicated.... :)

Haha! Truth is that it is terribly complicated :)

Happy day. I am so happy for you. You are right that is great light. So happy to see your big smile!!

Thanks so much Sara!!! The light is wonderful, a great mood booster apart from great for photos :)

So happy to see your big smile!!

I usually feel uncomfortable in front of the camera, but I look very confident here, right? I think it's because I really wanted to document the steps of this new beginning and my joy!

Yes, document this whole new journey so we can see and enjoy it with you!

Great to see your weaving loom standing there in this beautiful light! I am looking forward to anything that might come out of this set up:)

About the belongings, I totally feel you. I think thats the complicated part about doing any craft. You need quite a lot of equipment... Anyhow it doesnt look crowded around the loom, so that should be fine:) And I hope you can leave it there for a while now, and enjoy the weaving meditation!!

Glad you can understand me on this craziness of all the equipment needed :)

You were right noticing that the space around the loom is free, I wish it could stay this way but it's already full all around 😁 It's still nice and cosy though :)

Oups😁 well as long as it is full with inspiring things... I guess you also need some threads and wool and what not around if you actually want to use the loom:)

I can't wait for the place to be ready and to show you what it is surrounded with, haha! Endless stuff, oh my!!!

as long as it is full with inspiring things

You are so right :)
