Forgotten weft takes some love, an introduction and a teaser.

I found this little weft recently in my archives. I remember weaving it about two years ago, but life had other plans and it was left unfinished till now. The plan was to make a necklace, and necklace it has become :)

I really like the yarns I used back then, all natural and earthy.
Cotton, linen and just a little bit of silk for a discreet shining note.

I don't have photos of the weaving process, but I thought that even just the last part is worth to be shown. As a self-taught, I have faced so many times the paradox of having done something "difficult" and not knowing how to finish it because I missed simple steps (I still do!).

One of the first things to do is to "lock" the edges.
I wasn't sure how to finish the upper side, but I think it turned out simple and nice.

As for the bottom part, I decided to go with the simplest form, knots :)

But it didn't look right, so I untied them and made the warps invisible.

I love fringes so I kept this hippie style. Maybe they needed to be longer? Or maybe shorter? The moment I have the scissors in my hands is of my most stressful moments. We are talking about hours of work and it all depends on a few seconds :)

IMG_7496.jpg

And I cut and cut again, and then a bit more :)
This is how it looks completed.

A part of me settles down every time a beloved piece is finished and finds its way in this world :)

IMG_7508.jpg

And I also wanted to share it with you, cause this little piece came to remind me that everything we do in life has a meaning even though we might not understand the connection right away. For example, this piece has helped me realize what I need to do to move on with a new collection of handwoven jewelry.

While shooting, I wanted to check how it would look on a fairy background :)
No animals were harmed :)

But I am a girl of nature and the almond tree in our yard looks perfect :)

Since I am trying to collect my (weaving) parts together and start working on commissioning, let me show you what I have on the loom that waits patiently for some love!

Till next Monday! Cause this is a personal goal I have set, to have something ready every Monday if possible. Well, weaving is a slow process, but having goals is a good thing :)

Although this is my first post in this community, some of my weavings know this place very well through @fotostef :)

For example these ones, that could work now as a small sample and a kind of introduction to what I do :)

All the pictures and the words are mine. Apart from those that I pose in and are taken by @fotostef!

If you would like to know more about me this is my introduction post.

That necklace is so cute 🙂 I can imagine it must be stressful to hold the scissors in your hand.

This is so inspiring. I love the other pieces you shared here also 💚

Quite an ambitious goal you have set for yourself but as you say, nothing wrong with having goals 🙂

Thank you so much @mamrita!
You are so right! It is an ambitious goal, haha! We'll see what I can do :))

I love seeing what you've been making. Nice work!

Thank you so much @goldenoakfarm! Glad to have your feedback!

I always admired the art of weaving. And even wish to try it one day. First time I saw someone here do the weaving and it feels refreshing. And by the way, that necklace of yours is pretty and unique. All colors are natural and I'm loving it. Thanks for sharing your wonderful works @traisto and God bless you.🥰

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback!
You can start experimenting with weaving on a small frame and see if you like it! It is not that complicated and could open new doors of creativity for you :) As I can see, you are truly talented in working with yarns, your work is awesome!

What a great goal. I am excited to see all your beautiful art. Thanks for showing us some of the process and your thoughts as you went through it.

Thank you dear Sara! I really hope I can make it, a new piece to share every week means that a lot of creative stuff is going on, and when creativity is high, all is good :)

One of these days I'm gonna send you something in exchange for a small hand-made piece. I've been thinking about this Hive project where people can exchange items like a surprise box. It would be so cool.

Hey, yes! That would be so cool and what a nice thought! I am in! Although mine won't be a great surprise for you, you already have an idea of what to wait for :)) Ok, it won't be a necklace :)

I'm gonna see how expensive it is to send something abroad. Last time I checket is was a small fortune to send anything to europe.

I was thinking of that too! I am going to ask here as well and I guess we'll figure it out!

I am so ecstatic to see you posting here @traisto! When you commented on my post I wasn’t aware of who you were. Then I come to this post and immediately noticed the familiarity of the photos. I said to myself “I feel like I’ve experienced the mood of these photos before.” Of course! I have really missed @fotostef sharing your beautiful weaving masterpieces.

This necklace piece has so much character and it looks so beautiful against the almond tree. Your dog reminds me of the labrador retriever we once had :)

Although your work has been seen in the community I would still like to welcome you here!

Every week needleworkers from around the globe get together to share our work, patterns, tips, ideas and shortcuts as we support one another. Our goal is to inspire the Hive blockchain to give crafting a try.

On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We share and post our work directly from the Community page.

We encourage our members to share about their needlework life with us. We love hearing stories and what types of things inspired your projects. We challenge you to put some feeling and emotion into your publications and help us get to know the needler behind the fabric.

Feel free to share photos of your work but it’s optional if you choose to share the steps with us (we do require you share the step process in at least one of your posts for validation purposes). If you just want to needle and share about that time we’d love to hear about it 😊. You can share your work anytime even if you are not completely finished with a project. We love seeing pieces come together.

For more information about what we do and for our posting guidelines please visit our FAQs.

Thank you so much for joining us and sharing today ~

Thank you so much for your warm welcome @crosheille ! Feels so good to be here myself without representative this time :)

“I feel like I’ve experienced the mood of these photos before.”

I take it as a huge compliment! Thank you for your kind words and your encouragement!

Markos, my canine companion, looks so much like a labrador. He is mixed and has only half the size of a labrador, so everyone thinks he is a puppy and takes all the petting :))

Looking forward to spending more time here :)

Absolutely!! I've always admired your work and am very excited for the chance to get to know you a little better :)

For sure! The photos that have been shared here now and before have such a relaxing and refreshing feel. It shows how much you love nature and working with your hands which is very inspiring.

Oh wow I was almost sure he was a Lab. He’s beautiful! I’ll see you around for sure ;)

Super excited as well :)
Sharing my work here and taking so much inspiration from others works as a great motivation to be active on the loom and creative again!

Thank you so much @crosheille! See you around :)
