Reviving an Old Tea Light Holder with Crochet Flowers

in #hive-1279115 months ago

While going through the shed, I stumbled upon an old tea light holder I bought from a high street shop 25 years ago. I vividly remember the shop's name being "Au Natural," which, sadly, no longer exists.

It was very dusty and in desperate need of cleaning.

After giving it a good clean and polish, I decided it needed a bit more flair. Why not embellish it with some crochet flowers?

I pulled my red and orange leftover DK cotton yarns to match the beads on the tea light frame. I used a 4mm crochet hook.

I eagerly crocheted 7 flowers to slip into the little beads attached to the twig and leaf metal design.

The pattern I used is so simple:

Start with a slip knot.

Chain 5.

Slip stitch in the first chain to form a ring.

Chain 2.

Work 2 double crochets.

Chain 2: Slip stitch in the ring. Repeat 6 times.

Fasten off.

Secure the end.

Cut the excess.

I made 7 flowers: 3 red and 4 orange to complement the red and orange beads already on the tea light holder.

The middle hole of each flower was perfectly sized to fit the beads, with just a little tug to place them snugly.

They fit perfectly!

I couldn't wait to see the final look. For 50p, I bought a small glass to sit in the middle of the holder.

It fit nicely, and I placed the candle inside.

I lit it up and was absolutely thrilled with the result! This old tea light holder is usable again and more beautiful than ever.

I nearly threw this tea light away—I had actually forgotten about it—but a little creativity and resourcefulness made it functional again.

I feel happy that I have given it my own personal touch and a new life.

Amazing how little things we do can make us feel fulfilled and happy.

Happy Monday to all, full of creativity and joy.

Wow! That looks elegant! Love the minimalism of it too.

It is wonderful how enriching it has been for the candle holder to incorporate these little crocheted flowers. Now it looks much more colorful and it's good that you have kept it for so long, it's a very nice piece.

Thank you for the lovely feedback, I really appreciate it. 😊

These are really nice flowers made with thread. The bead is a good placement on the flowers. Looks really nice.
