Crafting Nutritious Homemade Food for Blue, the Kitten

in #hive-1876355 months ago

My 8 weeks old new kitty, Blue, got ill, apparently with a bad food allergy, and was eating the commercial kibbles, and this poor kitty pooped blood.

So, I moved him to homemade food and fresh meat/fish, just like I did to my older cat, Coco. When we got her, she was malnourished and underweight, but she thrived beautifully.

So, I made a recipe to try to emulate what he would get in the wild. Cats are obligate carnivores, so I included the bones in the recipe. I did not include grains, as he might be sensitive to them.

I used a whole chicken. It will provide high-quality protein essential for muscle maintenance and growth, and the bones will be the source of calcium and phosphorus.

The liver is a rich source of vitamins A, B, D, iron, copper, and essential fatty acids.

The boiled egg had lots of fat, protein, amino acids, taurine, and vitamins.

Fish oil supports the skin and coat health and improves joint health and cognitive function.

Powdered eggshells are loaded with calcium.

Seaweed contains iodine, which is important for thyroid function and kittens' development. It also contains vitamins and minerals. However, be careful not to overdo the seaweed, as it can disrupt thyroid hormones.

Eggs, bones, and liver are rich in taurine; the cat cannot produce their own taurine, so it is important to incorporate them into their diet.

Swapping meat or fish will be a good idea, so they get a varied diet.

Chicken and Liver Kitten Food Recipe with Seaweed

Ingredients
1 kg chicken (with skin and bone)
120 grams of chicken liver
2 boiled large eggs
2 tsp fish oil (for omega-3 fatty acids)
1 teaspoon powdered crushed eggshell (boiled for atleast 10 minutes to sterilize them)
6 grams seaweed (Nori) (minimum)
1/2 cup chicken stock.
1/2 teaspoon Himalayan Salt (full of minerals)

Instructions:

Cook the whole chicken.
Separate the meat from the bones.

Return the bones to the pressure cooker and cook until soft.

Blend the bones in a food processor until they turn into a mash.

In the mixture, add the chicken meat, chicken liver, eggs, fish oil, ground eggshells, seaweed, and 1/2 cup of the chicken stock.

Continue to blend until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Divide the mixture into individual portions (based on your cat's daily intake.)

Store in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.

I excitedly woke my little kitty to eat to know if he liked it,

and he chowed it down while half asleep!

He is very satisfied with a big belly.

And fell back to sleep!

Happy Caturday to all,

Mariah 😺💗
