Pallets everywhere

I like pallets. They are cheap, they are strong, they are versatile, they are EVERYWHERE!

I want to write about a collection of things I have made with pallets. I bought a lot of them for the fireplace, but they were too good material to burn. I try to write every details, so you can easily reproduce them if you want.

Benches

I've made a few benches after we moved in the new house because we didn't have anything to sit in the garden. The first ones were as simpy made as possible. Actually they are just made from two pallets, where one of them was cut in half and nailed together in 90 degrees (bottom left one). Pretty simple, you just have to add a few slats to strengthen.

The top left is a copy of traditional benches.Pallet slats cut in size then screwed together with some other scrap wood. If you don't want to make yourself trouble screw one support in place, then cut the excess, and then go to the next one. Don't try to put it all together as you can't cut properly with the other side in the way.

Boxes

We grow potatoes and we didn't have enough containers for them. Then came the idea to make a large potato box with pallets. I've cut one pallet in half, these are the ends. Then nailed the sides and the bottom with slats from other pallets. This one box ate about 4 pallets and weighs 30 kilograms when empty. And it can store about 250 kilograms of potatoes.

Speaking about boxes, I have also made some flower boxes with 2-3 slats simple nailed together.

Shelves

There is a tricky one made to fill in some empty space in the kitchen. It was a real life saver when it was put in place. Two equal sized pallets gives the legs, a third one without its cubes is the backplate, and some slats form the top plate. Nail the top slats on the legs stating from the ends to make it nice and parallell. When its strong enough, you can put up the back plate. Painting is optional.

This one doesn't even need cutting. Just have two pallets standing, and two beams on top. You really want to nail them together so they won't move. If its done you can put the pallets on top to form the shelves.

The coat hanger is really simple. Put sime hooks in it and you can hang it on the wall. Later I decided that I need a shelf on the top, so I cut a pieceof mdf and put on top.

Outro

That's all folks. These are the things I have made from pallets. Please tell me if you want to hear more about them, or you have some ideas, how to improve.
