Hello to all my creative art loving friends! I hope you are doing well!
It's been a long time since I wrote here about my drawings. This is not because I stopped drawing, but because I draw very slowly. Today I want to show you my first attempt at painting shells with acrylic paints.
This time I drew it myself using a reference. I mean I didn't draw this with an artist for a drawing class.
The reference showed two shells on the seashore. I liked it very much.
So I started drawing from the background - the sunset sea and the shore.
Then I marked two shells.
This stage of my work satisfied me, although it took quite a lot of time. Even though the sea is just part of the background, I still find it very difficult to draw it.
Next came the hardest part - drawing the shells themselves.
I didn't really like how the yellow paint looked on my shells.
You can see what this picture looked like on the reference. I liked everything there, but not so much in my drawing.
I decided to completely remove the yellow color from the shells.
As a result, there was too much purple paint on the shells. I didn't like that very much either. It took me a long time trying to find a paint color that I liked. Unfortunately I didn't succeed. At some point I decided to stop and leave everything as it was. After all, this is just a training sketch and there is no point in chasing perfection in this case.
After all, these are my very first shells. Let them remain just like that.
I hope the next attempt will be more successful.
