When including video in their podcast, some clients have asked to be featured in an environment other than the studio.
We do plan on having different sets to decorate for different occasions, but for now, this is out of our budget, so we decided to try some movie magic with the use of chroma key, which is a technique used to replace a certain color in an image with something else, like a weather map or an environment
We mail-ordered some chroma key green muslin fabric from a place called
Rose Brand Theatrical Fabrics and Curtains
Who have a wide selection of keying fabrics in green and blue
We also repurposed some backdrop stands we use for photography.
The result: Some pretty nifty looking green screens.
As you can see, we still need to iron out some details (pun intended) but with the right lighting, I think we might be able to make it work.
We'll do some tests and update this post with the results.
Our goal is to eventually be able to provide our clients with a full-on green room like this:
But this requires time, knowledge and investment. We'll be taking baby steps in that direction though.
