Last Friday, while I was going through the internet, I saw a simple crochet hairband. And felt like that I wanted a crochet hairband for myself. So I decided to crochet one at my weekend.
I like to wear hair bands of different kinds but never wore a crochet band before. It came out very nice at the end. So I decided to wear it and go for some shopping too.
Let me share the pattern and the steps of my hairband.
Items Used:
Yarn(I used 3ply acrylic yarn)
3.5mm hook
You need to know only, how to crochet chain and single crochet.
Pattern:
Before creating the pattern, I used a measuring tape and measured around my head. And used those measurement to decide the size of my band. You can also measure and resize your band.
Here is the calculation.
Around my head, it had 21.5 inches. My ear to ear was 15 inches. So my band size is 15 inches. And then the strip to bow tie the band should have 6.5+ length for bow. So I took it as 14 inches all together. Then those 14 inches are divided to 7x2 as 7 inches from left ear to neck, 7 inches from right ear to neck.
In the first row crochet 75 chains.
Then turning back that row, crochet 75 Single crochet up to the starting chain of row 1. From that one crochet 40 chains.
For the third row, we have to turn the work again and crochet it as follow.
55 single crochet, 45 chain. And then skipping 45 stitches in second row join the third row into second row in next stitch and crochet 15 single crochet, 40chains. Now the third row is complete.
For the fourth one, turn the work and crochet 115 single crochet back. Then the work will end at the level we started our first chain.
To make the finishing better, crochet slip stitches around the open edges of the band. This made the look more quality and nicer.
