A Simple Solution

Hello friends! I hope y'all have been having a good week. I've been plugging along on my projects like the rag rug and knit bandages, but those are gonna take a while to finish. But today I MacGuyvered a simple solution to a small issue that I thought I would talk about.

A while back I talked about downsizing my trash bags to doggie poop bags, because the majority of my trash is from scooping the cat litter and not a lot else, so bigger bags get stinky and need to be tossed before they are full, wasting all that plastic. I had been using an old protein bucket as my trash can, but even that was too big because it was taller than the bags, so if I put anything heavy in there, it would fall and hide inside the bucket. Cutting it down wasn't a solution, because then it would be too wide and the bags wouldn't stay that way, either.

So I switched to using a yogurt tub instead, which was a good size, but awkward to be bending down and aiming for this tiny receptacle at the bottom of the cupboard near the floor. So I thought about how I wanted to hook it to the cabinet door, and how I would do that.

Sometimes the simplest solution is best! I just bent this wire I already had to the right size, wrapping it around itself a few times so it would stay put, and bent it to create hooks over the top of the cabinet door.

Now my tiny trash can is much more convenient and reach-able. And I have more cupboard space! :)

Just thought I would share this simple solution. It could also be used for other things, like baskets for various supplies or perhaps an aluminum foil roll?

Have a lovely day and thanks for reading! :)

That's a cool little hack and solution. I was thinking of doing the same as you are since my cats often play with the trashcan and it can get fairly annoying 😆

Ahahaha, also good for that! 😺

right? like you know how cats love to play with the trash can 🤣

I love how you came up with your tiny waste bin
That’s a great job
Welldone!

Thank you! :)
