Today I was an electrician haha about the ongoing contest in the build-it community I looked round to see if I can do anything on my own I searched for days still couldn't find any spoilt thing that I can repair but three days ago I discovered that the light in my corridor was off even with power available.
I called the electrician that has always handled electrical items in the house, he gave the excuse of being outside the state so I had to do it myself today. even if I attended Government Technical college and my trade course was electrical engineering I so much fear electricity haha but today I had to take the bold step of replacing a new lamp holder.
Items Used
- screwdrivers
- tape
- tester
I started by checking if the electric bulb is bad but after removing it to another lamb holder in the sitting I discovered it was still working so It definitely must be the lamb holder's fault. I ran out to get a new lamp holder it was sold at 250 naira ($0.607) I got back home the power was out, it was a big relief because I don't think I would have gotten the courage to fix the lamb holder while power is on.
I borrowed some screwdrivers from my neighbor and immediately removed the old lamb holder and fix in the new one, doing this wasn't easy at all since it was the first time I spent close to one hour trying to fix the new lamb holder I finally got it right without the help of anyone except for My little brother that helped in taking some pictures while I was busy with work.
At last, I finished fixing the lamb holder and wait patiently for power to be restored so I can be sure I did the correct thing haha, while I was busy trying to fix it friends around laughed at me saying I was gonna ruin the whole thing I should have wait for the electrician to return from his trip. because of their disbelief in me, I had to prove them wrong by fixing it on my own.
later on, power was restored in the evening and my corridor was bright as it should be, I can now boost from achieving something great, this isn't just anything I feel so happy for myself. thanks for reading through my blog post please feel free to drop your comments in the comments section of this post.
