Magic Amethyst - Illustration made in the traditional way

Me alegra nuevamente publicar algo en la plataforma, luego de unas semanas bastante difíciles debido al virus y posterior a este la recuperación del mismo, la cual fue bastante compleja, pero dejando esto a un lado, ayer tuve el ánimo de familiarizarme con mi mesa de trabajo nuevamente, primero comencé organizando todo el material que tengo, entre contar lápices de colores y anotar algunos faltantes.

I'm glad to publish something on the platform again, after some difficult weeks due to the virus and after that the recovery from it, which was quite complex, but leaving this aside, yesterday I was in the mood to get familiar with my work table again, first I started organizing all the material I have, between counting crayons and writing down some missing ones.

Luego de una pausa en las ilustraciones siempre me queda una especie de vacío o quizás un tipo de inseguridad, donde no sé que hacer con los elementos que tengo y no sé por dónde empezar. Pero luego di el paso y comencé a crear bocetos, formas y quizás de allí partir a algo, esto sin tener nada en la mente, solo quizás dejándome llevar.

After a pause in the illustrations I'm always left with a kind of emptiness or maybe a kind of insecurity, where I don't know what to do with the elements I have and I don't know where to start. But then I took the step and started to create sketches, shapes and maybe from there to start something, this without having anything in mind, just maybe letting myself go.

Entonces esas líneas me guiaron a el camino de las flores, quizás influenciada en gran medida por las fotos que comparte @sacra97 de sus hermosas flores. Entonces no puse resistencia y hice una flor particular, no se su tipo pero la llamé Amatista algo extraño ya que el color que le dí no corresponde pero me agrada el nombre.

Then those lines led me to the path of flowers, perhaps influenced largely by the photos shared by @sacra97 of her beautiful flowers. So I put no resistance and made a particular flower, I don't know its type but I called it Amethyst something strange since the color I gave it doesn't correspond but I like the name.

Entonces déjenme explicarles un poco más la forma en que logré darle vida a la pequeña Amatista, ya mencioné que con algunas formas sin ideas surgió los trazos para una flor, posteriormente comencé a darle color, haciendo esto por capas, desde el más claro hasta el más oscuro para darle matices. Notarán que en este dibujo en particular no realicé un delineado principal como acostumbro y se me resultó cómodo aunque luché para que el boceto no dejará rastro. Finalizadas las capas de color comencé a darle detalles con un bolígrafo color negro.

So let me explain a little more how I managed to give life to the little Amethyst, I already mentioned that with some shapes without ideas I came up with the strokes for a flower, then I started to give it color, doing this in layers, from the lightest to the darkest to give it nuances. You will notice that in this particular drawing I didn't make a main outline as I usually do and I found it comfortable although I struggled so that the sketch didn't leave a trace. Once the color layers were finished I started to give details with a black pen.

A medida que la ilustración tomaba forma me dije que Amatista tendría que ser una flor noctámbula, la cual en días de luna llena desprende magia para que las luciérnagas recarguen sus vientres luminosos. Anoté que quizás podría crear una historia curiosa y mágica al respecto. Es por ello que luego de trabajar con el bolígrafo color negro agregué pequeños detalles en blanco.

As the illustration took shape I thought to myself that Amethyst would have to be a nocturnal flower, which on full moon days gives off magic for fireflies to recharge their luminous bellies. I noted that perhaps I could create a curious and magical story about it. That is why after working with the black pen I added small details in white.

Finalmente le di color al tallo y a sus pequeñas hojas, esto lo logré con marcadores. Entonces Amatista ya estaba lista para ofrecer magia y ser una estación de energía para las luciérnagas que engalanan las noches en los bosques y pantanos. Es gracioso como algunas veces cuando dibujo se me ocurren algunas historias curiosas las cuales nunca termino compartiéndolas. Quizás debería, luego de estudiar la mejor forma de redactarlas y organizarlas.

Finally I gave color to the stem and its small leaves, this I accomplished with markers. Then Amethyst was ready to offer magic and be a power station for the fireflies that grace the nights in the woods and swamps. It's funny how sometimes when I draw I come up with some curious stories which I never end up sharing. Maybe I should, after studying the best way to write and organize them.

Y de esta manera es como vuelvo a retomar un poco las ilustraciones, luchando para no dejarme vencer por las pocas ganas, el malestar y el cansancio. No dejen de comentar que les parece Amatista y también la curiosa historia que imaginé para ella e incluso pueden animarse a darle continuidad en los comentarios lo cual sería divertido las ideas que puedan surgir.

And this is how I return to illustrations, struggling not to let myself be defeated by the lack of desire, discomfort and fatigue.
