Hi, I'm My Teenages. Today I'd like to show you a card corset I made for my Queen of Hearts Halloween costume.♥️♣️
I really like Halloween and this year I was given the opportunity to finally dress up and I couldn't miss it. After analyzing several options I thought that the queen of hearts was a good option to be able to look pretty even with the costume and honestly it was the least complicated option I had. The only thing I was missing was the essence of the whole costume: the card corset and buying it was not an option, so I decided to make it myself. After all, I have some knowledge in sewing; what I lacked was practice and knowledge about garment making, but I had a lot of confidence in myself.
To make the pattern I used one of my dresses and to make sure everything looked good I made it first on paper, which due to my inexperience took me a long time, in fact a whole day and I only had 24 hours left to get everything ready. I consider that I have a problem with doing everything at the last minute, but surprisingly it gives me good results. Then super early in the morning I cut the fabric and ironed it to make it easier for me to sew. Because I was on the clock, I didn't take many pictures of the process.
The truth is, I didn't worry so much about the finishing of the front part because it was going to be covered with cards, so that was easy. The complicated part was the back part because the pattern I took out was not working, so a little by eye and with help I solved it moderately because after sewing I realized that it was too big and had some mistakes and even more I wanted it to have the corset effect in the back, so I had to fix it all over because I did not have time to unpick and I had to take care that it looked good because that part was going to be exposed... When I was about to finish the last details, the needle of my sewing machine bent in a “z” shape, so I had to finish it by hand, which was not a big problem because I have much more experience sewing by hand and they were very small things.
The gluing part was surprisingly the easiest part. It only took me 10 minutes and I used much less cards than I thought. I glued them with hot silicone and took the opportunity to make a crown of cards to complement it. I finally finished my costume the same day I needed it at 4 am. I didn't sleep much, but I had a great time and I loved how the corset looked with the rest of the outfit. Thanks for reading and giving me a little of your time. I hope you liked this project and had some fun. ❤️ I wish you have a nice life, bye!
