Wont be much longer and the voyager will be good to go! Theres still something to be looked at but thats getting done today. I have a few things I want to do - add another battery to the back of the car for charging phones ect, make curtains ( might jus end up getting new tint on the windows instead), get a cheapy roof rack, and have points to strap down things whilst driving. If it doesnt sell, Ill be using a metal bed frame as a roofrack - thats going to be fun!
Ive started with the eyelets in the back I wanted to be able to secure things to the inside so I went to get some eyelets and also the cable to charge the other battery with. The other battery was one I thought was no good any more when it actually is fine.
The easiest first!
Whilst thinking how to do this best, I realised that i no longer need the seat belts. I would have liked to still have had the seats even to sell for cash, but they were both crushed when the roof collapsed on the house.
I pulled out the seat belt and to cut it, I used a lighter to burn it whilst pulling it
I checked the height of the garrafons and screwed in an eyelet at the height I wanted it for the rope (the rope turned out to be the old seatblet)
As it was already mounted to the fooor, I kept it and will use it.
I put another eyelet the otherside of where the water garrafons were to stay, and passed the old seat belt through and back around the garrafons. It works well.
I did it too the otherside aswell, pulled the seatbelts as far as the could, but this time I had knife to use.
Its not very strong but its only to supprt things whilst going round corners.
By the end of the day after going to get a few bits, and to sell some silver, I did all the seat belts in the back. Not that I need this already now but its handy with both sides now with eyelets and straps - and swept it out!
I found a sweet place for the extra battery, it fits snug in between the front seats
Theres was a lot of speaker cables and subwoofer cables under the carpet, maybe I can use these on the battery to save running cables. Then I would only have to attach it to the alternator.
I noticed what looks like a stab wound in the body work. Poor car it really has been through it all. Everyone tells me that cars dont rust in mexico, which is mostly true, but at some point I had scraped against stones on the mountain road and the paint came off.
It was definatly rusty. The mecahnic had a bit of paint so I used it
Certainly looks like its been stabbed!
after some paint..
... and the horrendous scratches down the side.. at least that means the car went to the good side of the track, and not the other side!
Next will be getting bars on the roof...
Until then Im enjoying my new Sombrero!
