Today I took my time to assist my neighbor to sew a simple off shoulder blouse. She is also a seamstress but finds it difficult to cut and sew off shoulders outfits correctly
Sewing off shoulders requires some diligent measurement taking and discretion for it to fit the body contour.
How to divide the chest measurement evenly and how to take the measurements for a sleeve.
While cutting an off shoulder we are not meant to take the measurements of the round bust and divide it by 4, instead one is meant to take the chest measurement of the front bodice from one armpit to the other.
Taking note of that we also do thesame for the back .Another trick is that you can take the shoulder measurements and remove 2" from it to make your chest measurements, using this guide you won't go wrong sewing an off shoulder blouse or dress.
Here the shoulder measurements is 14" hence chest is 12"
Using that I folded the fabric into two and measured out 12/2...
Adding zipper allowance to this the back bodice was ready.
Folding another part of the fabric into two again I have cut the front block. But this time I wanted to add some gathers to the dress hence about 3X the chest measurement of the back was used for the front.
Next was the sewing section, the front block was pleated to pull it back to our normal measurements
The sleeve was made in a straight cut but to give it some beautiful and unique appearance I decided to pull a gathers in between it to form 3steps

Having done that we added a band of 8" to complete the blouse here
While working I had the woman's daughter playing around the workshop and keeping us company with her silly talks, she wouldn't stay away from the machine
Having sewn everything together our dress is ready here, perfectly fitted.
Having completed this, I feel Fulfilled because I have been feeling low all day before she knocked on my door and beckoned on me to assist her.
Working and having come companions around lightened my mood and her daughter wouldn't stop making me laugh. I'm glad to show her the tricks I have shared with us here on the Blockchain henceforth she will be able to sew fitted outfits for herself and other people.
