Let's make a Bass this time

in #guitars9 days ago

I'm trying to recover from the flu. It's been kicking my butt and my voice is still not great, but I can't wait more time to get to working.

The truth is that I haven't built a bass in a while and I feel like there's one inside my head asking to be born.

Why don't I build more basses, you may ask?

Well, it's simple. I know more guitar players than I do bassists, and us, the bassists, are a fickle bunch. There's either the guys who do fine with a chinese knockoff and would not consider spending more than a couple of hundred dollars for an instrument, and the ones who only buy 12k basses from Pedulla, Fodera or any of the elite brands.

Why is this the case? Who knows, but such is life. And to be honest, that may be the very reason why I find myself not too interested in jumping into the world of bass making head on. A little to cork sniffy for my taste.

At any rate, forgive the brain farts and my weird voice. It's a live, and they come with warts.

Cheers my amigos

It does seem that some bass players are more open to radical designs than the average guitarist. I've seen some really beautiful basses with lovely woods and other materials. I do get the 'cork sniffy' thing though. In the end it's 4 (or more) strings, pickups and something to mount them on and the player makes the music, but having a nice instrument can inspire you.
