FRIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED RICE! Nobody in my small family who does not eat it. It has always been an all-time, anytime, anywhere favorite dish. There is no limit as to what time of the day it should be eaten. If you crave for it, just ask your mom or aunt or yaya (wow sosyal yayaaaaa, yemen!!!) to cook it for you. You see, no rice is lost and thrown out. We do not do that unless it is already rotten.
Over the years, decades maybe, we Filipinos especially my Mi Familia has grown to note that we refer to FRIED RICE as uneaten rice from yesterday. Yes you read that right, YESTERDAY and not TODAY nor not TOMORROW, we sometimes humourly call it as Leftover Rice or Days Old Rice... hahaha lol.. it's cute though huh. In our locality, it is commonly called as Sinangag.
And because we PINOYS looooooooooooooooooooooooooves to eat, we often pair it with almost anything you can think of. In some of the small store and even big restaurants do offers combination of Fried Rice and something else. It may be paired with eggs, hotdogs, longganisa, beef tapa, fried fish (tuyo), tocino and whatever seems to be appealing food combination.
Cooking Fried Rice is not that hard to do, it is very simple really. You just have to take out your Leftover Rice and simply mashed it with little force using your hands (just make sure you washed theme before touching the rice ;-)). Then stir fry it under oil at your choice and sautee it with garlic and onions, and year roundly seasoned it with salt and pepper. And that is it! You have a FRIED RICE!!
However, we do not stop there, we keep innovating and creating other recipes to level up our FRIED RICE to make it more appalling to taste and see not just the ordinary and boring and lonely Fried Rice. Sometimes we just mixed and add in everything we see in our refrigerator and turn it into a one meal dish. Yeah, it can also be called Fried Rice Meal, all in one bowl. All you need is a spoon and you're good to go.
In my family of boys, boring and lonely fried rice is out of the kitchen!! They do not want to eat repeated meals. These boys of mine are really giving me a headache when it comes to their food. I have to be creative and imaginative on how to present their meals.
Presenting our yet simple but spoonful Fried Rice Meal. It is mixed with a bit of scrambled eggs, sliced hotdogs and longganisa and a dash of onion leaves.
